There can not be a single reason that the plot you came up for with Tapion can't be used for Pikkon.
Hell, Pikkon is of a completely undocumented alien race. How can you not find inspiration in that fact alone? Maybe he's the sole champion of an other-wise pacifistic race that's slowly dying out. Maybe he was cast away from his homeplanet as a child and is scouring the galaxy for clues about his homeworld and others like him. Maybe he encounters another member of his race of the opposite sex and lives every man's real dream: to single-handedly repopulate his race.
