I need to know the roles of the different players.

I thought it was stated somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

I know what the goalie does, but does the foreward dude just fly around, using the wingmen for passing help and such.

Am I right?

Goalie blocks the balls wingmen and forward are just positions in a formation. Any of those three can score or carry the ball. Its up to your team to concoct a strategy for passing and whatnot.
