First of all, I thank Rad kindly for allowing me to post here once a decision has been made regarding Nappa.
Second, I apologise for delaying this for so long but I didn`t quite get the time to write it.
And third, the reason I post. That reason is beacuse I would like to argument the words of staff in this thread. Staff members often say that besides name, gender and race there is no limitation as to what we can do with our characters. While that is true, there is a limit. And it`s called our imagination.
A lot of you must have said "Huh?" right now. Let me explain.
Our imagination gives us numerous combinations regarding characters. As proven by many talented writers on Chubbs, it is incredible what one can do with a character. But there are just some things that we feel we can`t do with just any character. Just beacuse somebody can do a wild change to a character doesn`t mean we ourselves feel we can do so. For example I take my character. I could never imagine roleplaying Jackie in a "Solid-Snake" style. Somebody else might be able to do it, but to me it just goes against my "inner-logic" if you will.
A better example is Nappa here. While somebody else might be able to see Nappa as a quiet loner guy, it just didn`t make any sense for his roleplayer. And since he wanted to roleplay that way, he needed another, more fitting character in his mind.
Our imagination is a universe with it`s own rules and boundaries. Meaning that in our minds, some characters are just more diversable then others. So it should really come as no shock that people choose to switch characters on this basis. Even if they do have the right to change their characters as they please, they might seek for a better person to fit in that role then the one they already have.
