We do have a debate board for 18+ so idiots don't go in. Only because when you are 18 you are magically mature.

Kid Buu, you are wholeheartedly wrong. Now I think there is evidence for the 20 or 30 percent of our physical power thing, but not mental.

Tell me what I believe is wrong is going into telling someone their religion is wrong. Regadless, I don't dispute we use our full brain... I just thing we can push them to do a lot more than what we do now. It goes off the same principles as our muscles. We use 100% of our muscles in one respect, but we don't use them to their potential.

Yeah KB, I remember in like 7th grade my teacher was talking about this person whose baby was like under a car or something and she was like freaking out and she ended up actually pushing the car over, and so I asked my teacher if there was any way to actually control that surge of adrenaline that lets your muscles do more than the body normally would allow. She told me that even if it were possible (which, who knows, somebody could figure out a way) each exertion would probably leave the person with a bunch of strained muscles and tendons and it just wouldn't be healthy.

So much for real-life Super Saiya-jin. Sorry to disappoint you, everybody, because I KNOW how much we all wish we could have people with big brightly-colored hair running around and grunting at us while their muscles bulge out of their skin. Too bad.

My view on this possibility would be if we could forcefully strain ourselves to that point then we could also train it to withstand the pressure. Obviously doing those kinds of feats repeatedly too often would have negative impacts, but if over years you trained it then why isn't it possible? This would, in my view, develop the same way our muscles develop now... only a lot more impactful. We tear muscles. Rebuild/regrow them and are then 'stronger.' Wouldn't the same thing happen if we did it to a higher degree?

Anyway, it's all theory and my belief. I'd just like to see it come true.

^_^
I think I get what you are saying. Like, how say the development of from say the Homo Erectus to the Homo Sapien (sp?), drastic improvement right there, but the Erectus beings probably used most of their minds as well, but they just weren't all that developed. That's what you were getting at right, KB?

It doesn't matter, I said that too, get over it and shut up. It's the rules and I've said that more than once and they don't budge and it's only fair because 18 can't even go in yet.

I don't understand your first sentence. Are you saying that your religion is that we only use 10% of our brain?

And anyway, yeah. I agree we can push our mind to do more than we do now. It's called learning.

Actually, experiments have been conducted that monitored brain functionality in different situations. At rest, only about 30 - 40% of the brain was sending out electrical impulses, and therefore, thinking. (Note: This idle functioning is the subconcious at work, performing vital tasks that keep you alive, such as making sure your heart keeps beating)

But when that person was presented with a mentally strenuous task, more impulses continued to be sent out. But much of the brain still was sending out hardly any signals.

Maybe this doesn't mean that we aren't using our entire brain. Maybe those sections are being used for something very important, and we just haven't figured out what for yet. Or, we really could have a percentage of our brain power sitting idle. Either way, I still think both of you are right. I think there is still much unused potential in our mental capacity we just haven't utilized yet. However, I still remember days at school where teachers pound me with so many new things to learn that it gives me a headache, and I just can't seem to take anymore in.

You use all of your brain except not at once. At once it's 10-30% or something like that. Now can we talk about something different?

Whatever, I was just a study that showed we weren't using all of it. I guess that kinda explained it, cuz we don't use everyting at once.

I think I read someone saying that the sun would blow into a supernova after it caves in on itself, first off our sun does not have enough mass in order to generate a super nova, it will simply become a red giant, engulfing the earth, then after a billion years shrink into a white dwarf untill it finally faded out.

Now as for us humans, can we really consider ourselves mammals, I just watched the matrix over again and something said ringed a bell, we as humans do not really adapt to our surrounding enviroment, we just use up all the resources untill there is nothing left and then we move on, we a viruses plain and simple, of course It's just something to think about.

Yeah and I know you guys have moved onto other topics but I was a lazy ass and never opened the thread till today -_-

I posted that. I was saying it would Nova, not Supernova. A nova is when a white dwarf's outer hydrogen shell releases one last burst of energy before completely collapsing into a black dwarf. This doesn't always happen, but it isn't uncommon either.

What? I was really interested in outer space as a kid... I read too many books.

Our classification as mammals is based on our biological make-up and such. What we do as a society does not effect that. And I do not believe that that we would cut us out of mammals anyway, 'cause I believe that elephants move around finding resources.

Uh... there's absolutely not a chance that the sun could explode and create a black hole. It's not nearly big enough. In fact, the sun is very very small by a star's standards.

EDIT: And about that multiverse crap... uh... I'll take your word for it. >.>

EDIT: Whatever, I don't think this post was out of line, but I'm retracting it anyway. I don't see a need to cause a problem.

Suns chance of going supernova: .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000...1%

It just doesn't have enough power within it to do that. It may nova as a white dwarf, but only a ridiculously freak event could EVER cause it to supernova. It would need far more hydrogen gas within it to muster up that kind of explosion. And should it somehow supernova, it still couldn't form a black hole. A black hole is a tightly packed ball of the entire star's mass into the size of something like a golf ball. The massive gravity displacement from this causes a "suction" like effect, resulting in a gravity well, pulling in everything around it. The sun, while it is still massive, is actually a small scale star. It would merely collapse into a black dwarf, or nova into one.

And yes, listen to 14 everyone. We shouldn't have to care about this. We've got a far greater chance of blowing ourselves to kingdom come with nukes than the human race surviving billions of years to the point the sun would die.

String theory bitches, it's all about the string theory.

Scientists have actually made matter appear in two places at the same time.

In one sense science can be proven, but in anotehr it can't. I choose the latter. The former would be that it does happen, so it has to be true. Another is that it only happens because we make it happen. Such as if we called yellow red, it would still be yellow, but just by a differnet name, if you know what I am talking about.

How do we even know it is yellow? What if yellow isn't a color and we are way off? Or maybe our minds change the color and it is actually blue? But what if blue really isn't blue then what would yellow be?

Exactly. Man, when me and a friend thought that out loud, that was one fun drafting class. =P

What if every word we say isn't the real meaning? Everything we do or say is wrong but we wouldn't know, we taught ourselves and we believe what we do after time. o_o
