Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2

I personally thought the hardest part of the game was fighting Kid Buu with Fat Buu.

Such a pain.

Hercule was easy to fight with though.. didn't even get hit.

Really? I thought all of the Buu saga was really easy except for Vegeta vs. Kid Buu. Fat Buu at least has that breath thingie attack and can use it really fast, and he gets energy back quickly as well. It's much easier to keep Kid Buu occupied when you have that much energy.

Probably one of the best delaying "tactics" I know is to just Dragon Dash upwards at the beginning of the match and punish the CPU whenever it tries to rise, knocking it out of the air if at all possible. If they're below you they can't hit you with those ridiculous beam attacks, after all.

And yeah, what Super Buu said. I had an orgasm when I started playing Tenkaichi because it's totally DBZ. The arenas are huge (and going to be even larger in the next game), and there's no greater satisfaction than comboing a dude into the air, launching after him with incredible speed and then slamming him down THROUGH a mountain. And that's not even a special attack. Every character can do that.

Tenkaichi plays nothing like the Budokai games. Simple as that.
^ What he said, KV. The Budokai series is basically a bog-standard fighting game but with DBZ models. Tenkaichi actually feels like DBZ. It's behind the shoulder, and you spend most of the time in the air, flying around at omg high speeds teleporting behind people etc etc. It's actually fully 3d. You can also hide behind objects, since if your opponent can't see you on-screen, you can't get a lock on them (well, for Scouter characters anyway >_>). It's a little like Zelda's Z-Targeting system.

Personally, I disagree. DBZ was always about making a bang. Tenkaichi fails to capture this for the most part while Budokai does it well.

Let`s take Vegeta`s Final Flash for example. In Tenkaichi, its shown as a relativly regular energy attack. Nothing really special. But in Budokai (at least 3), when Vegeta executes it he does it as if he was about to unleash apocalypse itself! Seeing that most energy attacks in DBZ were executed in this fashion, I belive Budokai holds more true to the nature of DBZ then Tenkaichi.

Yes, it was flashier and looked bigger... but really. That was just the cut scene type of thing, while in Tenkaichi it holds true to DBZ that everything is fast. You can't just stop to charge your energy for a few minutes, because you'll get your ass kicked. Plus when big attacks hit, the screen went white and it did a shit load of damage, so what if it wasn't the biggest thing. I thought it was pretty shweet.

Anyway on a side note. I played Tenkaichi I for about six hours, and hour of that was trying to be Oozaru Vegeta (note: I had only been playing for about 1 1/2hours at that point, so I wasn't very good) and he was hella hard. So, I went and lost my dignity and checked a Walkthrough to see how to beat him... it told me exactly what I had already thought up, but dragon dashing into the air, much like Kibbles said. So, I did that and beat him... but what I really wanted to say was. Has anyone ever used Kaioken Attack on an Oozaru x3
EDIT: I've attempted twice to hit a Kaioken Attack on an Oozaru, but they always swat me away xD

The problem with fighting Oozaru Vegeta is that, like Broly, he can't be stunned by physical attacks. You could go through your entire attack chain and Vegeta will just sit there, immobile as a rock. Except he's often not. He's often doing an attack chain back at you, which will stun you, and interrupts yours, and does a Helluva lot of damage.

Basically, you're sort of forced to be cheapo and Kamehameha over and over and over again from far away, because there's no way in Hell you're winning a physical match. And nope, never tried Kaioken on him. I imagine if you like... Somehow managed to get behind Vegeta, X him to make him keel over, and then did a Throw, you might be able to pull off a Kaioken Attack without him swatting you.

It's the getting Kaioken off and getting behind him that's the problem, though Tongue

And from what I hear, Tenkaichi 2's explosions are much more prettified.

Well, both times I attempted Kaioken attack, I had to go Kaioken xP Then I would hit it, go dashing at him and SWAT! Nyyoooommm......crash! =C

Yay for explosions!

Well, I only just got Tenkachi, so I'm still playing it regularly, I've basically finished the main mode (forgot what it's called). There's no doubt in my mind what the hardest battle was, Goku vs Oozaru Vegeta, I left it for awhile until I got abit better at the game, somehow managed to defeat him. The worst matches were the ones where you had to survive until the timer stopped, I hated them, the best way to survive was to just blitz you opponent with combos and not let him use one of his special moves.

I suck at Tenkaichi, but I've been trying to get better at it lately. The moving is kind of hard to get used to, at least for me. ;><

Btw, does the Regeneration Z-Item actually *do* anything? I had two of those suckers on Kid Buu, and I didn't see his health go up during battle *ever*.

Only thing I don't like about Tenkaichi 2 from the screenies is the overdone SFX. You get these weird swirly things when they power up which were never there before. Personally I think the best auras, hands down, were in Budokai 3. When you had no energy, they were nonexistant, but the higher your energy was, the bigger/less transparent they were. I mean, the game was mediocre, but I sure did love those auras.

I got the game on Friday. I might write a review up soon, though I think I need more time with the game to be sure.

Nope, they're not. Also, they lied about the whole 'over 100 characters' thing. 120 transformations, 70 characters, though that's still quite ample. Tongue

One thing I'm wondering in hurt confusion is what happened to the extra attacks for each character, mapped to triangle+left and triangle+right. I haven't yet encountered them, and I'm at the Android Saga (including all the movies up to that point - Lord Slug, Turles, Coola 1+2 etc etc). =(

Haven't unlocked him yet. Currently I'm just playing as whoever the Story Mode forces me to play as. At the moment I like the fighting improvements, but I dislike the lack of options and the constrictive, linear nature of the Story Mode.

I've got it on the Wii. Man, thrusting is more awesome then I would have thought. Awesome game though.

Especially after all that damn thrusting I had to do for TP!

In my opinion... just ignoring you guys <3

Budokai 3 >= Tenkaichi > Tenkaichi 2

They just lower gameplay, and add characters. ><:; Tenkaichi 2 was too repetetive for me, but it's a good game IMO. I just don't have the time for it, I mean... If I play it for 26 hours straight (two hour break around 13th hour), it should have got repetive... but it was a tad way too much.

I mean. They do like four battles, when their should be like one or two, and two for when their should be like six. ><:;

Still, gotta love all the characters plus Oozaru for every Saiyan <3

Brolli restrained and SSj were sweet. :] Still.

-goes to play DB3-

In my coding that I do, that is the sign for greater or equal because you can't type it in ;D

Exactly, you can. Also, it's "greater than or equal to," math symbology noob.

So this DBZ BT 2. It's the newest one?

I stopped paying attention since Budokai 2. =\

Does it suck just like every other DBZ game ever made save Hyper Dimension and Final Bout? (Even those aren't exactly classics)
