Personality: Simon Williams is one of the head inventors at Earth's runaway success story Capsule Corporation, designing new gadgets and gizmos with a team of talented individuals. Unlike many others in the corporate scene, Simon is laid back, easy going and good natured, only raising his voice to those who deserve it. He has a reputation of completing complex builds of new devices outside of everyone's sight, oftentimes appearing lazy and incompetent despite its untruth. It has earned him the nickname "Loafer", which he wears as a badge of pride.

One night, while watching the evening news, the latest crime fighting vigilante was being interviewed. So many times Simon's credit was greedily gobbled up by the flavour of the month hero, who normally owed his victory to the devices Simon created and designed. After being ignored once again, Williams decided that he would gain the respect he deserved.

He constructed a power suit, borrowing from his schematics of other devices to integrate into it. He immediately set out, foiling a bank robbery. The bank manager asked him his name, to which he replied "I'unno, it's just a prototype." The papers headlines were filled with the heroic exploits of the masked man Prototype, who continues to live a double life.
