FYI, the campaign doesn't have 4 player co-op, just two like the previous title. But there's this extra mode called Horde, where you can get 4 friends and team up to fight against... the horde.

I've just played a tiny bit of the campaign. At this point in the day there are too many family members on the internet, so me playing multiplayer would be unwise. But I'll be playing all night long babeh, THIS IS GONNA BE SWEET.

Have no idea who that is... Only played for an hour.
I wished I hadn't had started on Hardcore differculty though, my thought process when I was started it up was, 'I RAWKED AT GEARS 1, SO HARDCORE WILL BE NO CHALLENGE TO ME, HARHARHAR!!1!!'. But I'm already struggling. =[

Why the hell does it take so long to find a multiplayer match?!

A lot of people have been saying that the shotgun is now useless, and that it's ruined Gears. I honestly haven't noticed any difference. I can still just run up to someone and blow them to pieces. Maybe it's just cause there are so many new players, idk.

Obviously there's only one way to play a game if you're super pro. Tch... those fps elitists piss me off. OMG CAN YOU BELIEVE THERES MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY A GAME!!!!111!!!1! Idiots. Anyway, on a more relevant note, I just picked this up. Looking forward to jumping into the campaign. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... The campaign is actually quite good. On the first game I always thought of the campaign just as a distraction to the multiplayer, but the main story so far in GOW 2 is pretty interesting.

Still, I'm glad to hear the story's worth playing. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

Liking what I've played so far. I just took the Grindshaft down the Inner Hollow, so I'm not very far in. Still, the guns seem much more unique this time around than they did in the first one. Kind of disappointed with character design (I seriously can't tell who's a bad guy and who's Dom) but whatev. It's a shooter. I shoot.
I'm a huge fan of progress tracking on achievements that require it. The achievement for killing with all the weapons in the game, for example, is very helpful to have a counter for. Same with the active reload and kill 100,000 achievements. Reminds me of the Team Fortress 2 achievement packs, actually. So yeah, I'm happy with the purchase so far. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

For one you can't decide which gametype to play, only the basic theme, like whether you want to play a deathmatch, or a territories game ect. Nor can you pick the amount of rounds you want to play. It's not a huge deal, though. Something about multiplayer just feels less, I don't know how to describe it, I want to say less competitive. Maybe because you can't focus on one game type, so it's harder to keep score, or that you don't just get points for kills. I kinda like it in a way.

People who complain about scoring in objective-based games are fucking morons. Of course capping a flag gives you point when it's a game of capture the fucking flag. Seriously. If you only want kills to count, do everyone a favor and get the fuck out. ![]() "It's on my brain, driving me insane. It's on my mind, all of the time, and if it left... I would be fine."

Ugh. FYI, if you're interested in how the story turns out, maybe you should complete the campaign before playing multiplayer. I just played earlier and some random guy started talking about the story and what happens, clearly on purpose just to spoil it for anyone who hadn't played it through. So that kinda annoyed me, and then I noticed the ranking system, which seems pretty retarded, I don't know this for certain, but it seems that you climb a rank when you win consecutive matches, and drop a rank if you lose consecutive matches. For someone like me, who doesn't play with the same people and usually ends up on a random team, it's gonna make it extremely differcult for me to get a higher rank. I'm just disappointed, I thought the ranking system would depend on a individual players skill level, on the amount of points earned or something, but I guess not.
Always forget this forums exists since I have it minimized 90% of the time.
Games really really fun. Story mode was awesome, I'll refrain from posting spoilers but I'll most defiantly be first in line for Gears 3. Last boss is super easy, but that doesn't take away from the rest of the game being mega bad ass. ![]()

I really dislike the way multiplayer matchmaking has turned out. For someone like me who usually plays alone, it's ridiculously differcult to find a match, it can take 10+ minutes at times. I usually just get tired of waiting and go do something else.

I am probably getting this on christmas, for those who want some matches. I also really love me some co-op.

What's the deal with easy endbosses anyway?
Not that there's anything specifically wrong with it but I swear like 90% of the games made in the last 5 years have some completely underwhelming last fight. It's almost disappointing sometimes. ![]() |
