Yeah, the specials I think are exempt from the rules, regarding saiyan hair color and space rules and anything else. As for Vegeta and the meteors, iirc he was on some kind of small planet with enough atmosphere for a storm, so it could be assumed to have air and such. Vegeta alsodoes a speech in space when he blows up Arlia...but we ignore this.

Watched the Furiza Saga? Furiza almost succeeds in drowning Goku, they also make a point of stating that Furiza can survive in space while Goku could not.

Edit: Actually, they make a point of showing Bardock's death scene a NUMBER of times in the anime, and was Toriyama behind that movie? I don't remember seeing that scene in the manga, but that's about as close to 'canon' spacebreathing as you can get.

... Then again, it is cartoons.

I might be using the term incorrectly.

And I may be totally wrong.

But I was watching Dragonball Kai, which was specifically edited to follow the manga faithfully (and is totally kickass), and Arlia isn't mentioned at all.

Would someone who's more versed in the manga say whether or not that incident was in there? I have megavolumes of DBZ on my shelf, but, ironically, I haven't been able to find the first megavolume.
