The Like/Hate thread (WoW)
Lololololololol people are so MADDDDD in trade right now. So much rage. You can easily tell who hasn't experienced an expansion patch before.

Change happens. Get OVER it.

I wish one of these days all the people claiming to ragequit in chat would actually do it.

EDIT: I actually just witnessed a Hunter COMPLAINING about the change from mana to focus and citing it as an example of Blizz ruining the game, they are quitting for Halo Reach, etc.

It is dumb, but what'cha gonna do? Let the dumb people leave, and let the people who can take change in stride stay. I can honestly say I like the new changes to the mage class. The only real bone I have to pick with this new patch is that it's conflicting with my now out-of-date Auctioneer addon. That's all, really. And that will be fixed in the following weeks, I'm sure. So far, everything else is bangin'.

I actually REALLY like the changes to the classes in the greater perspective and think the game itself will be a lot better with these changes to the entire game. Its almost like a sequel of the game came out.

That said, I doubt I'll be able to do too much with it since I still don't have a group I can run regularly with.

If you're looking for a decent raiding guild, you could take a look at my guild. We're on a PVE server called Scarlet Crusade, so if that's a sticking point for you I apologize. We raid often enough, 4-5 times a week. Right now my guild's been running ICC; trying to play catch up, but with this new patch it shakes thing up a bit. Tongue

My guild's website is http://www.thedaftguild.com/. Guild applications are on the upper left corner of the page. Hope you find us interesting! =O

Rogues have a self healing ability, but no longer have stunlock.

That alone is a reason to buy Cata.

Regarding raiding guilds, the reason I can't really play with a regular group is that my work schedule is very flexible (and I can't guarantee certain days off each week as a result) and I usually don't get off work till around 11-11:30, sometimes midnight EST. Most people try to start around 8pm or so. So it leads to difficulty.

You shouldn't be able too. You can still stunlock for a short period of time, but they did something with the global cooldowns so that you cannot have them stunned for what seems like minutes.

I think it was kidney shot, but I might be wrong. I'd have to actually look it up.

(Respond to my aim, Vad!)

Tier 11 for mages. Now imagine what it would look like on a non-gay race.

Edit: Linked the picture, because it was huge.

Ambush, Evisercate, Backstab, Recuperate, Hemo, Hemo, Kidney Shot, Shadow Dance, Cheap Shot, Ambush, Ambush, Cheap Shot, Back Stab, Evisercate.

Somwhere in that you die or I CoS/Vanish, Evade, alter it so I Recupe more often, then I just continue whacking you down.

And I did reply, but you weren't there. We need to talk about it because you took it the complete wrong way.

Here's my opinion...

Now every class, for the most part, will have the same specs. All holy priests will have the same spec as my holy priest. There's no more diversity with this new talent system. I don't care, I'll play if the fancy strikes me, but I liked being able to have discipline/holy. Now I can have, what, 5 points in disc? I just feel like they're making it all "cookie cutter". Want holy? Fill the holy tree. Maybe it's easier, and better for new people and casual players, but I just feel like I'm...I don't know, being told how to play?

Either way, I'm not going to throw a fit about it. I know I'll end up playing Cataclysm for 6 months or so and quit again.

You actually have almost the same exact talents as before. Except instead of that talent down the tree that would give you, say "5%" more healing, you instead get it at level 9 when you choose your spec. The result is almost the exact same as it was in wotlk, except that you don't get lame talents leveling up.

Could have left a message vad, gawd. >_>

My talent spec was nearly half disc. It's not the same, but, yes they didn't change a whole lot. I just don't like that there really seems no point in branching off now. We may all as well just stick all out points in one tree, and call it a day.
The point is to reduce the number of hybrids by giving incentive TO put more points in each tree and make the class/specs play differently for each. Some specs didn't really feel all that different from others (at least while leveling) and they tried to solve that. There wasn't any "room for difference" before either. People always find that one best cookie cutter spec and go that route. There's a couple of points that are optional to play style, but THIS time I don't have to put multiple points into talents that do absolutely nothing but buff a spell that I do not intend to use whatsoever. I had quite a few talents that just... did exactly that. Buffed stuff that wasn't practical (like the old Hellfire) or just other trash. The only way they could let people feel like they were "being different" in their spec was to add filler talents and have loads of random points to spend. This is WHY people would forgo their final tier talents (wasn't worth wading through the junk talents to get to) at times and go hybrid instead. In other cases, there was no incentive not to go for the 21st and 31st talents just for their abilities (Dreamscape Restokins).

Or due to the enormous reach specs had, some classes were balanced on the assumption that they were speccing certain abilities (Soul Link at 21 points Demo - You couldn't take it while getting UA, so the pvp applications of UA's silence were meaningless during BC arena, since at best you could go 40-0-21. Any buffs to basic survivability to make non-SL specs useful just meant SL became better, which was then combined with the enormous life drain abilities of afflic to become an unkillable monster. You couldn't feasibly go any spec other than SLSL (Syphon Life Soul Link - a very boring hybrid spec, something like 34-15-2 or something, cherry picking each tree's "defining" early abilities). "How's affliction arena?" "I don't know." "Destruction? Demo?" "Eh, we just go all three. At the same time. This is the best spec btw." Not good game design. (In fairness, after SLSL got heavy nerfs, a 41 points UA spec did surface as a sorta glass cannon "Oh god please don't ever actually hit me" spec, but I think it took making it so that every single class in the game was't immune to fear before it worked since the assumption before was "Everyone has a berserk ability and will be immune to fear. You WILL be tanking your enemy, you have no way to avoid this, you are built around fear. Your ONLY option is SLSL and to find a resto druid partner. This is what we call diversity of specs."
Meh, above is pretty much an unorganized rant writhe with examples to ultimately just say I disagree with the opinion that this kills diversity and instead feels it opens the game up to at least three specs per class while making each tree different.

Me and friends finally got tired of having to change our characters every patch. After playing as long as we have we're growing of tired of Blizzard's constant changing of the game. They never patch something and leave it the way it is. They always completely rework the game. Plus we all want to play Shadowbane.

Change is what keeps a game fresh. Lack of change is why most MMO's die in a few years.

If I logged on and hadn't played the game since wrath (which I did a few days ago), I don't know how to do anything. To me, that's refreshing, because it's like a completely brand new game. Now imagine if you stopped playing it in vanilla. Few games can boast that, as most of them have to come out with a completely brand new game to have changes to it's system. I stand by the fact that WoW perfected the mmo formula, and the only thing that will ever hurt it is if Blizzard makes a different mmo.

For instance, people always boast that there's a wow killer, and most of them end up being horrid, or just not able to match up to the fanbase of warcraft. Worst yet for the haters, Blizzard steals their ideas to make their own game better.

Plus, I hate the idea of a KotoR mmo. Always have, always will.

/End rant that barely has anything to do with what vad said.

I 100% agree with everything she said with one exception being the "WoW perfected the mmo formula" comment, as I don't believe there is a state of perfection attainable due the fluctuations in user interests. I think they do a fantastic job, but every time a new MMO comes out I see a lot of new features that I really like better in their MMO (without stating that they are actually a better total product) - like the WAR scenarios have been noted by many as being drastically better than bgs. The thing IS, Blizzard is smart about taking these ideas that the community likes a lot and using them, although I don't agree that they are as polished of additions as they could be, or else people wouldn't still be using addons for those functions. Its constantly evolving, which is great though.

In low level BGs (sub 70ish) rogues can 1-shot people 5 levels above them with just Ambush. Even plate classes. You don't even have time to react/CC them/whatever, because they literally just take all of your health in ONE SHOT.

I know Blizzard shouldn't be spending time balancing low level things, but COME ON, that's just insane.

I've heard that.

But think about it... knowing that they will be doing the number parsing soon and they are adjusting the lower level stuff for this expansion, do people really expect when they release a patch this massive with complete and total class rebuilds that every class have their numbers already perfectly adjusted for every level rather than being able to adjust things based on the massive amount of feedback post patch?

This is essentially their "first build" of a new console generation, like the first XBOX 360 or something. There's going to be problems they haven't focused on. And they'll get down and start fixing that stuff. They couldn't just keep holding everything until they "finally get it perfect", because there is just so much content they have to solidify.

During the Wrath patch, Retadins were literally one shotting people at the level cap (with decent pvp gear) as well. These types of things are going to happen and then they get fixed.

Rogue's are easily taken down. If they're good at the class, yes, you're going to have a lot of trouble.

I'm a bitch to take down.
