So Steam is doing this awesome gift-pack thing, where you buy like six copies of a game for dirt cheap.
So like, this is a bit of a gamble, and I dunno how well it'd work out ultimately, but maybe a bunch of us could get together, pool some resources, and share the gift packs?
I'm envisioning something like this: I buy a six-pack of Borderlands, investing $40 (keeping one for myself, in this case). Anyone who wants a copy of the game can have it, and they therefore owe me 40/6, or $6.75-ish. To remedy this debt, they would purchase a gift pack, perhaps of something I would want (among others), and giving me a copy of that game would counter-balance the debt they owe me.
It's the sort of thing that might not work exactly as well as we'd like, but they're offering four gift packs today (Half-Life 2, Deus Ex GOTY, RUSE, and Borderlands) with at least 50% savings for each game.
What do you guys think? This wouldn't really work out so well unless we got a significant (read, ten people) number of folks interested, and who'd check in each day and would be responsible and honest about it.
