What's the reasoning for ending a day as soon as a majority is reached. It seems like a... well... bad idea given that we're spread across different time zones and it allows the Mafia, for example, to just jump on someone without anyone being able to react.

Woo! We're finally in agreement. I feel less like a douche, though only slightly.

By the way, I know my strategy sucked this game. Last game, my reasoning was sound and built from the banter. This time, I felt trapped as a normal townie and my only defense from the Mafia was to find them and lynch them. And, as you noticed, the townies nearly lost this game. Mainly from how freaking hard it was to draw any conclusions about anyone. While I could have gone about it better, and next time I'll rethink what I'm doing, I did try my best to get people talking. It seemed to me like that happened, right around the time where I got hung. So, maybe I played a small part in securing a victory for the townies.

Or maybe I'm conceited.

I actually tried to use that as our main "muscle" strategy for winning. It wouldn't have worked anyway (because of Kami), but it was a solid plan. Without the "lynch as soon as majority is reached" rule, that never could have worked. Well, maybe a little.

It's a fact of the game. Townspeople should be more cautious with their votes in an environment where the Mafia aren't exactly known. So far, they haven't been. Part of the danger is that Mafia can swoop in and finalize a vote at any time.

Of course, that they can do so makes all voting bum-rushes suspect. It's a thoroughly transparent process, and offers information.

It is somewhat unfortunate that days tend to end before those in other time zones get a chance to log on, but that's not something I have control over. It doesn't make much sense to me to keep things moving after a majority has been reached. If the townspeople want to encourage debate, they need to start withholding their votes.

I was also the 'spy', I was allowed to send anonymous messages once a night. Seemed rather useless unless I used it once, so I hit sig with it to frame Celena.

Also the death knell was really Kaden's lynching, even if it was a fight till the end. If he hadn't been away at the time we could have sealed it. I credit John for keeping it alive for those last few days.

Is Rose still going to host the next Mafia game? If not, I'd love to laugh at everyone else being paranoid as balls.

For the Insane Sheriff, I returned the opposite answer for each person investigated (though Sigfried was not informed of this beforehand; to his knowledge, he was a regular Sheriff). So, for example, he investigated Kaden one night, and I 'informed' him that Kaden was a townsperson, whereas Celena (when investigated) was Mafia.

Right up until he died, I was convinced Kami was mafia, and Sig was pulling shit. I really am terrible at these games.

I'm gonna run the next mafia, but I'm probably gonna wait at least a couple of days since I figure there have been two games in a row without stop. This'll give me time to decide what ridiculous shit I'm going to employ. Suggestions are welcome, though I can't say whether I'll use any of them.

I looooove all the variant roles. They just exponentially make the game into a clusterfuck of paranoia and "WHAT IS GOING ON!?" I particularly like the alignment bluff variant - kind of a play similar to the insane sheriff. I say LET'S DO THEM ALL.

Maaaaan, I wish we were all in a room to play together. Live-action mafia is awesome because you can just watch the crazy build up in people's eyes.

Next time I'll be able to actually participate more than I was able to before I died. I was a little *ahem* distracted during the first rounds of this game.

You actually do have control over it. You could simply choose to say that a day will last a minimum of X hours after a majority has been reached. To give someone a chance to defend themselves or... say anything, really.

In the context of the game, no it doesn't necessarily make sense that things would continue like normal once people had decided to lynch someone, but it actually makes less sense that the chosen person would just sit there and take it without having an opportunity to say anything.

EDIT: I understand that it was a conscious choice to allow the "bum rush" to be a valid strategy, but my question is why choose to keep that in the game over allowing a day to run its course? While a bum rush does, indeed, provide information, forcing a day, and by proxy, the voting conversations to drag out also allows information to be provided. To me, both are comparable, but one is influenced by factors completely removed from the game while the other is not.

That last day I was still alive was the most fun. I finally had some information to work with going into the last day based on the previous days which led me to figure out who the mafia was, and then also trying to decide if I was going to try and get myself lynched so I could shoot one of them. LOL ^_^

I also find it amusing that Greg was convinced I was mafia. Now don't those times I said "Lynching me would be a very bad idea?" make sense? I was going to shoot whoever started that crap until I figured out who I should actually be aiming at.
