Let's hear the rationale, Mario. How were you apparently aware that there was an evidence-planter? How did you know I was Maf, despite Whompt clearly coming up as guilty in an earlier investigation?

Like I said in that earlier post, I was working under the worst-case about the evidence planter. I also had no idea how that role works. Whether that can perma-plant one person or temporarily plant a different person each night.

My rationale for picking you is because you're a smart player. Your good at this kind of game. You'll recall I posted "this is what I expected" on the last day, because that was EASILY the best play for the remaining mafia. If we hadn't reached a consensus to lynch you that day (and I almost let it go to the next day on purpose) here's what would have gone down:

I investigate Meer. Whompt protects me. Meer kills Jarka. I come back with an investigation of "guilty" on Meer and you claim that's because Whompt planted evidence on you, which is why he showed up guilty to begin with.

If you hadn't made the claim of doctor, I probably would have ended up going after Whompt. Or, at the very least, if you had made that play differently. As I said, I think you're a good player at this kind of game and I see absolutely no way you'd protect yourself every single night with the kinds of accusations and self-reveals that had been going on.

Ultimately, though, I left it up to Jarka. She was willing to bust a one-shot power on Whompt and, in the process, make it blatantly obvious that she was an easy kill. Then she found you more suspicious than Whompt. The two of you were about even in my mind. The two investigations that turned up guilty (or pseudo-guilty for the gunsmith) were still pretty damning.

So yeah. That was the thought process.

I know Waff thinks (or thought, I don't know) that there was some cheating going on. The night I came back with "Leo is guilty" I was originally going to investigate Orsalis. I changed my investigation to Leo a few hours earlier. His suspicion was that Teemer was telling me who to investigate, which was not the case. I already explained why I investigated Leo. If you know me, you know I have no problem making leaps in games like this if I think there's a good enough reason or that it will be interesting. So there's that.

I threw out a possible explanation to Waff yesterday as to why he would change his vote, and I thought it was pretty solid logic. I'm too lazy to type it up, but I'm pretty sure he didn't cheat this one.

It doesn't matter to me whether or not people think I cheated. Not once have I actually been confronted by the people who suspected, so I assume it wasn't that serious.

Regardless, they're free to think what they want. I've already explained everything I've done. I'm done defending myself.

I'm just peeved. There were so many things that, if they'd gone slightly differently, would've resulted in a win for mafia.

Definitely understandable. I really wasn't worried while Raf was alive, but when he died things got a lot more tense for the townies.

I was shocked anyway. A better solution, since Meer already knew the roles of the remaining townies, would have been to say that he was a rookie cop and had just finished his two investigations on me and confirmed that I'm mafia. That way, the late reveal doesn't seem as wierd, I have no "Nuh uh!" defense that would have stood up to the others, and I would have still been like "Did someone plant evidence on me or is Meer a liar?"

Just saying.

The thing was, if he had claimed that, then there was no doctor. And the doctor WAS confirmed day... 4? So yeah. Rock. Hard place.

True... Damn. The bone-age was pretty high. Still, this was probably the closest game we've had since the beginning. Meer had pretty much a 50-50 shot of winning for the Mafia.

I would say much better than 50-50. The arguments against you were, as before, as strong as they ever get in Mafia. That I was lynched instead is just plain anomalous. You were saved at the very last second by a random, one-off power from someone who just happened to be online on day four (five?), despite the double-guilty verdict.

Which, again, is only to stick a feather in each Jarka and Kaden's hat, to dig through all that and get it right.

Returning to the doctor being confirmed, I think it was a mistake on the Mafia's part to target Kaden night 3. The odds of there being SOME sort of protective role in the game was high, and considering that Kaden requested numerous times for protection, there was no chance that the mafia would get that kill. They made the same mistake I made during the first mafia.

As well, according to some websites I looked up, the sibling role usually entails that if one dies, the other dies too. Since Kaden revealed his sibling was Raf, it seems only natural to try and target him and snag a two for one, at least I probably would have. As well, it's never bad to outright kill those that the sheriff claimed innocent. It increases the likelihood of false lynchings, and decreases the number of allies for the sheriff.

With two of our three power roles dead and the Sheriff out and kicking, we had to take the chance and hit Kaden. Our chances for winning against a Sheriff who gets INSTANT legitimacy (via the sibling role) were almost nil. I got damned lucky that I was one of the few that wasn't investigated (though that ended up not meaning shit).

We HAD to try to kill Kaden, knowing it probably wouldn't work.

With two of our three power roles dead and the Sheriff out and kicking, we had to take the chance and hit Kaden. Our chances for winning against a Sheriff who gets INSTANT legitimacy (via the sibling role) were almost nil. I got damned lucky that I was one of the few that wasn't investigated (though that ended up not meaning shit).

Again, the mistake I made. While it SEEMS like it's the only way, it's actually just the worst. As you demonstrated, you could simply pull shit away from you and throw it on somebody else. At the time, you were probably one of the lowest suspects on Kaden's list of investigation, especially considering that you destroyed any chance Teemer had of defending himself. Your position, combined with Leo's role, gave you plenty of chances to turn shit in your favor. I think that, if you had killed Raf earlier, Mafia totally would have won.
