It really was a lot of fun. I just wasn't devoting enough time to it to justify keeping my (and my wife's) accounts active, primarily due to lack of friends playing with us. Definitely wanted more than the 1-2 friends I had playing with me once every few days if I happened to log on when they were. We're all rocking on Bloodiron (EU), and have made a guild. So. GETCHER ASSES IN GEAR.

To play with us, you have to switch to the Europe servers, which is to say you have to switch to the Europe region in your Settings. That doesn't erase any of your previous characters, nor does it transfer them to a different server. You can't access your US charas while your account is Euro, and vice-versa. You can switch it at any time.

Just a heads up.

All the archetypes are pretty obvious in what they specialize in (I mean, you've played other MMOs so warrior, mage, cleric, rogue should be straightforward enough) and you can respec your souls infinitely so just go with whatever you feel like. Cleric does seem more tanky than in other games as they have chainmail which is better than rogue gear (leather). Personally I wanted to be a warrior mage for my main, so I went warrior archetype with riftblade as my main soul and champion as my second for more two-handery berserkery goodness. Beastmaster as my third for a free kitty =D.

Already on the server, have an 18 mage and a...16? warrior. Have a newb rogue and cleric too, but I was having enough fun on the other two I haven't gotten around to them.

Funny thing is, I'm having tons of fun, but I just know that anyone with any experience would look at my rotations and laugh hard. It's awesome being a newb.

I really enjoyed Riftstalker on my rogue. As for my mage, I used necro/warlock for soloing and Chloromancer for groups. Chloromancer is very fun as well. I'm probably going to try to get back into playing it when I start getting paid again and can afford it. I'll switch over to the server you guys are on to play with when I can because my friends on the other server were never on.

If you start playing again, I might seriously consider replaying, since we were both in the same boat on the other server. My only problem is that I don't want to have to restart my character since I was quite happy with those titles you and I went randomly exploring and found (seriously guys, go explore the world and try to climb random mountains - you get rewards and titles from it, as opposed to WoW giving you warnings for being out of bounds).

I want to preface the next paragraph with a point for Kaden. Don't think of the four archtypes so much as "my class" as you should "my armor class".

Mages are limited to cloth and have mostly various flavors of ranged dps, two souls for debuffing/buffing, and then the healer soul of Chloromancer, who focuses on Heal over Times and healing the team but healing by damaging enemies, so very indirectly. Its weird.

Rogues are limited to leather and have some ranged dps (Ranger and such), some melee dps, some tank souls, some support and group healing in Bards, good pvp souls, pretty much a great general range of a bit of all.

That said, I really really enjoy every direction a Cleric goes. Wears chainmail and isn't limited to just healing. While you CAN focus on healing (aoe, HoT, and direct big heals, pick your kind), you can also be a ranged dps nuker (think the Elemental Shaman of WoW) that also has some DoT capacity, or you can specialize in aoe skills for damage instead with Cabalist. Don't like that? You can go the melee damage route where you beat things with element enhanced maces. Or you can tank.

Warriors wear plate. They don't have a healer soul, but they have all the rest. Multiple tanking trees for various directions, but also multiple dps trees as well (of both ranged and melee).

Also, all ATs have at least one, if not a few, trees that will give you a pet, if you want to take one of those souls.

I'm really hoping they are the faction I was. I loved Meridian's layout and everything about its zones and flavor (fighting the gods, being a technomancer, etc) whereas I wasn't too interested in the other "holy warriors of light!" direction and the big donut hell that is Sanctum.

I only noticed today that clerics can summon a satyr. I'm getting one when I make a cleric alt just because they look so sweet.

I also like that I got a new hat for Rift today ... whilst playing TF2. That made me lol.
