Actually, the wavelength of light we call "blue" will always be the same, regardless. It's just that other species may not be able to see that wavelength, and therefore not know it exists, or may detect it in a different way. The wavelength will ALWAYS be the same, but it's more of just how you perceive it.

What if every word we say isn't the real meaning? Everything we do or say is wrong but we wouldn't know, we taught ourselves and we believe what we do after time. o_o
I think thats going a little overboard.... >.>
Yes, probably, but I always thought about this and how everything isn't what it really is. o_o

HF17 is right. Because we define what a word means, then it is really impossible for it to be wrong. Because we accept it as a description, we know what it is referring to.
It's kinda like money. Money is really worth zilch. But, because everyone else agrees that it can be used for legal tender, it is useable as the transfer of funds. In the same way, because everyone regards the word "tree" as describing those big brown and green things jutting up out of the sky, then it is "legal tender".

And this is exactly why I'm going to hate trying to teach my kid (if I have one) to talk and read. How can you explain what something means when they don't know what the words you are trying to explain it with means?

Yes, money is just worth soemthing because of what it represents. Somebody said I was right. *teardrop* =P
20; just talk normally around them. Just because they are infants doesn't mean that they cannot pick up on context. I talk normally around my five-year-old cousin all the time and he uses these words that even most others in my grade don't know in correct context. Don't do the baby talk, that is just stupid and can be annoying unless it's done correctly. But the whole "gaga googoo" stuff from adults is almost annoying, so just talk regular around him/her and it's actually good to keep them aroudn when ther'e company, 'cause I've had friends who didn't talk until they were six because the parents never talked to each other. =/

Pfft, that's pocket change compared to the sex talk. Can you imagine?
"Now son. You know that thing that you've had for all these years? Well...that's actually got a function. Besides peeing I mean."
Then, they get all experimental, and before you know it, your six-year-old has grandchildren.

Same, except I was using sex terminology in 4th grade like "pussy" and other things but wasn't informed on it but learned on my own after watching movies...

You can't expect society to become better if we do not help it become better. The way I see that poeple raise a child (bleieve me, I know I kind of know nothing 'bout this, but still) in a way so that they can grow into productful members of scoiety, in reality that's all humans are here for, we're like robots, what will we do when we have reached our purpose? Hey, I just figured out the meaning of our existence by accident. w00t!
