Garet and Poyomon walked for quite a long time. Garet's headache had almost completely subsided by now, but he did not question the supposed dream. Why should he? If it was anything like his other dreams, a hot chick would walk in, transform into a crinkly old lady, and strip down. At this point, his subconscious would mercifully wake him up before suffocation.
Until then, he would walk around with the little blob and play along with whatever weird stuff his mind was cooking up.
Poyomon spoke first.
"I've gotta say, I'm very excited to meet you!"
Garet looked down at the little guy. Somehow, he managed to walk just fine despite having no actual legs.
"Oh? Why is that?"
Poyomon stopped, stared up at Garet, and grinned.
"I've been waiting for you my whole life, and that's a very long time! Now you're here, and we can go on all sorts of adventures!"
Garet gave a quick glance around for grannies, but saw none.
"Ah. For me, you say? Well, that makes perfect sense?"
Poyomon giggled. "You think so? Good! I'm not a good explainer."
Garet nodded, and continued walking.
"So, what, exactly, are we supposed to do here?"
Poyomon looked confused.
"I thought you said you knew."
"I'm testing you."
"Oh, I hope I pass. Um...you're a Digi-Destined."
Garet paused. "Huh?"
"A Digi-Destined. You're supposed to come here, and I'm supposed to find you. You're here to help us, and I'm here to help you."
"Right, of course. Now, why am I needed?"
"Because we both can stop the bad guys. But either one of us on our own would not win. You help me get stronger, and digivolve, so we can help the Digital World."
"Digital World," Garet began, "That's where we are now?"
Poyomon bobbed his body up and down. Garet took it as a nod.
"Tell me about digivolving."
"How long is this test?"
"Long enough."
Poyomon sighed. He was getting bored. "Digivolving is when I get stronger, and become a new Digimon."
"Digimon?"
"Digital Monster. That's what I am."
"Right, right. So you transform, eh?"
"Right. I digivolve."
"Can you show me?"
Poyomon didn't have a brow, but nonetheless, he furrowed it in thought. "I suppose I could, now that you're here. I can try."
Garet paused and stuck his hands on his hips. "Alright, let's see."
