Chubbs Idol Finals Q&A - STAFF

I'm not sure what you mean by 'situation', but I'm going to guess that you mean any, not just OOC - whether it be how saga rewards were handled, troublesome members, or a fight outcome. I thought about this for some time, and finally settled on one. It happened some time ago, but I'm sure you all remember it.

I would change how BJ handled the rewards for FoF2. To refresh, for those who've forgotten; everyone, regardless of placing, recieved the same amount of TP and Zeni. 'Bonus' rewards were given to those who won rounds (e.g. Uub got a Ki Rifle, Reijin got Pyrokinesis, others recieved various other items and techniques) and in addition, the finalists all recieved a bonus reward (Medium/Large Ship, Kai Kai Teleportation, and SSJ2 respectively).

I liked the bonus rewards, but I didn't like how the rest of the rewards were handled. Some people fought all the way to the near-final rounds, writing thousands upon thousands of words, and their reward was the same as those who were eliminated in the first round. The bonus rewards alleviated this somewhat, but there were those who stayed in the game nearly all the way to the end, but didn't win any rounds.

I would have used a fairly simple TP/Zeni per round system. 3 TP and 300 Zeni per round survived. So those who were eliminated in Round 3 would get 9 TP and 900 Zeni, and those who made it to the finals would get 39 TP and 3900 Zeni. I think this would have made more people happy. I'd keep the 'round bonus' system, but leave open the option to have extra rewards for those who deserve it upon elimination.

I hope I was correct in my guess, otherwise that was for nought. >_>

I can name a very recent event, if that's alright. That event would be the announcement that's at the top of the legendary asylum, and linked to from the main page.

Reijin's handling of the situation on Alex's DBZ RPG 5 simply couldn't have been any better, in my opinion. He made sure to remain calm throughout the entire conversation with Alex. Even when Alex resorted to low-level name-calling and being an all around prick, he simply continued to state the facts calmly, and provide his reasoning. He backed up his stance with hard facts, and obviously was "the bigger man." I think that I would have had trouble continuing to talk to the guy, after he had tried to deny the fact that Reijin had proof that he was wrong, and probably have just decided to say "Well, there's no way anything's going to get through to you. Later." and then block him. Perfect 10/10 in my opinion.

I was halfway through Hellfighter's question (had to go have my hair cut, then have food) when Krillin's popped up, and I was already pretty much doing Krillin's question in order to explain my choices for the staff reorganisation. So I'll lump them together.

Continuing off from HF's question, critique each of the current Staff members, their strengths along with their weaknesses.

I'm going to run through the current staff one-by-one, give my opinions of them, and then show my final layout of how I think the staff should be arranged.

Current Staff Lineup
Super Administrator

- Vegeta Jr

Administrators

- Raditzu
- Reijin

Super Moderators

- Android-18
- Burter Jr
- Hellfighter 17

Moderators

- Bra
- Krillin
- Trunks

I'm going to run through them one-by-one, give my opinions, and then show my final layout of how I think the staff should be arranged.

VEGETA JR

I haven't seen enough of VJ to really judge how he would cope as a staff member should he ever rise to full activity, and that's really my main problem with him being on staff. There's little doubt that he's a genius; his first task was a real brain-boggler, and gave me a lot of fun, and I need not even mention his skill with coding.

However, I think VJ's position should be relegated from Super Admin to simply 'Owner'. I don't mind him supporting the RPG, doing coding and the like, and I know he loves the community. But he honestly can't hope to do as good a job as the current staff, who are here all the time. He's nowhere near involved enough to merit being a staff member in the sense of evaluating content, rulings, staff members and the like. I've removed his name from the list of 'active' staff because I don't think he should be looked to as a figure of authority in the same sense as Rad or Rei, but more as just a 'sponsor' in the same sense as Waffuru, who isn't on staff or even an active member, but who still helps out occasionally with staff issues and supports the RPG.

RADITZU

There is little doubt as to why Rad is an administrator. His ability to deal with issues in a mature, logical manner, combined with his dedication and activity, are a good reason why Chubbs is still running after all these years. He can also handle situations with a sense of humour, which lightens the atmosphere and doesn't make the RPG some hugely business-like thing. After all, the only reason we're here is to have fun.

As for downsides, he can sometimes be a little indifferent to the happenings of the site. He's happy with the way the RPG is, and can sometimes be a little lax in 'pushing' improvements when things are already satisfactory in his eyes. Whether that's true or simply my own perception is debatable.

REIJIN

Reijin, like Rad, is very logical and mature. He always handles issues in a very fair manner, and he has an astounding ability to keep his cool under pressure. Even when members drive him to the edge of his sanity, he still someone manages to deal with them rationally.

One problem is that he'll sometimes get into things too personally. For example, with the Alex's RPG fiasco, I feel he got far too involved, which prevented him somewhat from seeing it from a neutral point of view. Reijin is inherently a nice person, and so it was natural that he'd want to try and solve the disputing and misunderstandings against Chubbs, but I feel if he had approached it from purely a mediator standpoint, we could have put it behind us quicker. He can also sometimes be too lenient, though this is extremely rare (and something I'd much rather have over someone that was too strict).

ANDROID-18

I'll be straight-up: I think 18 is too indecisive to be a moderator. Staff are supposed to be a source of authority and guidance, and I don't think 18 can quite cope with that role. However, I think she's been realising that as of late, and has put forth extra effort to try and combat it, and it's noticeable.

She can handle updates well, but outside of that her abilities start to waver. She has a pretty good knowledge of the RPG, but sometimes she falters on questions because she doesn't seem to know the answers. More often than not she'll tell the member she's not sure, and to ask a higher-up, and I feel that if she was more involved with the IC happenings of the RPG, she would have less problems with this. As for new ideas, her policy seems more to be giving her opinions and feedback than actually suggesting her own suggestions or alternatives.

In addition, I feel she can be a bit defensive sometimes. When you're a staffer, you have to be able to deal with criticism from other members, or staff. Sometimes she takes things too personally, and this can cause unnecessary drama. She's a really nice person, and I know she enjoys being a staffer, but I think there are others who could put the position to better use. No offense, that's simply my opinion.

BURTER JR

BJ's racked up a lot of enemies over his tenure as a staff member, and whilst that's something to be taken into account, I'd still be hesitant about demoting him. He's not as great at being ultra-perfect mediator like Rad and Rei, and he's not as knowledgeable about the site as Hellfighter, but he's got one thing that no other staffer, and I mean no other staffer, has.

He is the Saga Man. You can list off a bunch of things about what a good saga needs, and you can have it as an awesome idea in planning, but execution is something else entirely. BJ has this inexplicable ability to make every saga he runs absolutely awesome. During saga time, he's in his element, and somehow manages to keep up with everything and keep things moving along at a slick pace. He doesn't leave people hanging (or if he does, he'll explain why), and he doesn't let things get boring. No offense to the rest of the staff, but all of the best sagas in my time here have been BJ-run. When he's not running a saga, he's usually spearheading some fun OOC project like Big Brother so as to keep people stimulated and boost activity.

Now I'm done singing his praises, it's time for some criticism. BJ does have his negative points; he has had a tendency to be argumentative. He can be very blunt when dealing with people (sometimes when they deserve it, sometimes when they don't), and as I said above, this has earned him the seething hatred of many members. But he's reflected on this. In the past month or two, I don't think he's put anyone down unnecessarily or been a prick in general. I haven't seen a single thing he's said recently that I've disagreed with. This makes me very happy.

HELLFIGHTER 17

Hellfighter is definitely someone I can vouch for in the intelligence category, having talked to him about Chubbs at length. He's also, as has been said before, a demon for updating. However, unlike the stereotypical update monkey, he actually puts thought into his stuff. I'd have to say he's the best moderator in terms of judging and grading roleplays. He's very fair and consistent with his judging, and has probably been the first mod to really 'set a standard', though this standard becomes more ambiguous if other staffers disagree. Only once have I ever disagreed with one of his quest judgings.

In terms of sagas, I'm not sure he's up to scratch with BJ. I disagreed with how he handled the first eliminations in PC3, and I'm still not sure on his reasons behind some of the decisions. I'm sure he's got the potential and determination (no irony intended) to improve with experience, but right now I think he needs to fine-tune his skills with practice. In addition his writing can sometimes be a bit confusing and convoluted, whereas (especially in sagas) you need to be quite clear and blunt about what's going on. It's something I'm beginning to realise as well, from running my own saga on DBA.

BRA

Bra isn't afraid of making his opinion clear, and I think he's fully capable of exerting authority when he needs to. He took to the staff position like a fish to water, and I don't think he's in any danger of losing it anytime soon. He's been able to maintain both IC and OOC activity whilst still fulfilling his staff duties, and that's a definite sign that he's right for the job.

I feel his strengths lie in the creative side of things as opposed to grading and updating; he's able to come up with very realistic ideas that contribute to the RPG as a whole, as demonstrated when he pioneered the ship system. As such, I think he would be better as a Super Moderator than Moderator. He could even be an admin someday, but I think Rad and Reijin are too good to replace at the moment.

He's been staff for a relatively short time, and I can't really say he's made any weaknesses apparent. But like I said above, I feel he 'specialises' in content-making, and isn't as experienced or confident at grading quests/spars as say, Hellfighter is.

KRILLIN

Krillin is no doubt intelligent, and he's a very reliable person to have around when implementing new content, or introducing a saga; simply to have his feedback. I didn't realise quite how good he was until he helped me brainstorm the elemental kinesises for DBA, at which point I realised that he's pretty damn logical and reliable.

He's not without his weaknesses, though. He's not the most active member, though I'd never say he's in danger of going inactive. He's very consistent in that sense, which is a good thing. More recently (though it's been a growing thing) he's been becoming 'the new Brit Guy', in that he'll be blunt and sarcastic with members. This is not a good thing. You need to be able to treat the members with some degree of respect, whether you agree with them or not.

Often he'll get immersed in arguments with the members. It wouldn't matter if he remained mature in these debates, but often it's when his childish side starts to surface. He doesn't seem to care much for the consequences, but would rather argue the toss with a member, and lower himself in the name of petty squabbles. Overall I'd say he does a good job as staff, but I don't think he's good enough to go past Moderator yet.

TRUNKS

I think Trunks is good at what he does, but the problem is, that's mostly updating. Like 18, I think he's made an extra effort in recent times in order to keep his staff spot. His activity is fairly regular, especially as of late, but I still feel he may be teetering on the edge of his position. His knowledge of the RPG is pretty sound, and he's very easy-going, which leads to little staffer-member conflict. However, I don't think he has what it takes to keep up with some of the tougher staff duties, such as grading quests, spars, and running sagas.

I was interested to see how he would handle PC3, since I've never seen Trunks run a saga whilst I've been on Chubbs, and I was disappointed to see he dropped out. I know he has the creative ability for it (his posts were very gripping, and definitely raised my hype for the saga) but I think he may lack the time. Again like 18, I feel he may feel a bit left behind in terms of current events and can be a little reluctant to get involved in things he doesn't know much about.

Overall, I think he does a satisfactory job, and I'm going to leave him in the staff lineup. It should be noted, however, that I feel there are quite a few Idol contestants that would out-do him. I think he's roughly on-par with 20, but slightly better in terms of activity and experience. In my current list, though, he is the only person who would have a chance of losing their spot any time soon.

My New Lineup
Administrators

- Raditzu
- Reijin

Super Moderators

- Bra
- Burter Jr
- Hellfighter 17

Moderators

- Bardock
- Krillin
- Super Buu
- Trunks

The only people on this list that I didn't already cover are myself and Bardock. I think we're roughly on the same level, and both have the potential to possibly someday ascend to the ranks of Super Mod, but others such as BJ and Hellfighter have had to earn their way up to that position and prove themselves over time (getting more experienced all the while). However, I feel we're both more than capable of handling a Moderator position. Twenty, as I stated before, I believe is roughly on the same level as Trunks, though Trunks has the edge in activity and experience. So it wouldn't be quite enough to get him onto the list, though he's very close.

Super Administrator

As I understand it, purely owner position. Me and VJ might disagree on this, but I don't think the owner should hold authority over IC happenings, as he isn't actually that involved with the RPG. His decisions, thus, can't be as 'informed' as the other staff members, who are here all the time.

Administrators

The overseers. Admin get stuck in from time to time, but I see their main job as maintaining the overall sanctity of the site. They deal with all kinds of issues, from disagreements of every kind to whether or not certain things are allowed. It's their job to be a know-it-all, basically. That way, whenever anyone is unsure of anything, they can go to the admin and get a definite yes/no. I'm sure they do more behind the scenes, such as new content and sagas, but I see this as their main job.

Super Moderators

A midway point between Admin and Mod. They hold more authority than mods, and should have a good knowledge of the site and grasp of what does and doesn't fly. Generally they have more experience than the mods, and their opinion holds more weight when it comes to decision-making. They can also fulfill the duties of mods, but their first priority should be sagas and content.

Moderators
They shouldn't be as concerned with content as SMs and Admins; their job is to keep Updates flowing, so the higher-ups can concentrate on stuff like planning new content and sagas. That's not to say they can't give their input on such things, but Updates, Questions (that they can answer) and approving/denying stuff should be their first priority.

Story Guide
For when you're not sure if someone would make a good mod or not. You can put them in this position to gauge their abilities and the like, and, after a while, if you deem them suitable, you can promote them. Alternately it's just to indicate a mod who is very inexperienced, and so their answers to questions and the like should be taken with a grain of salt.

Continuing off from HF's question, critique each of the current Staff members, their strengths along with their weaknesses.

VEGETA JR
I don?t know him well enough to give an in-depth critique. All I know about him is what I?ve heard secondhand from other people, and what he has recently told me himself. So, I?ll simply refer to the last question I answered in place of this one, as well as, I think some of the choices that are his should be left up to the admins, because they have better knowledge and insight as to what must be done.

RADITZU
Strengths: If I were to pose the question of ?Who doesn?t like Rad?? I?d be shocked if I heard any nos. He?s a really easy guy to get along with, and makes you feel like you can talk to him about anything, which represents good communication skills. Whenever he has something to say, he usually cuts right to the chase, but is able to do so without coming off as being uptight about it. He knows the game: when to put his foot down and when to let something go. Rad has excellent leadership skills and is easily able to inspire, almost to the point of being mesmeric. If he were to say, ?Let?s do so-and-so,? there would be a large chorus of, ?Yeah! LETZ DO EET!? He?s like a hypnotoad. But a good hypnotoad.

Weaknesses: It?s difficult to think of downsides. The only thing I can really think of is that the role he often plays is the ?approval? guy, the one who puts the stamp on it to make it official, but has little to do with the actual thing. This isn?t always the case, but it feels like it some of the time. He may simply work behind-the-scenes more often than not.

REIJIN
Strengths: He has a lot more self-control than people might realize, and whether it?s his actual job or having been staff on Chubbs for so long, he manages to be able to put up with a lot of shit. He also puts a lot of thought into his actions, thinking of their possible outcomes and is always making sure he is doing the right thing. When dealing with people, I know he tries really hard to see the good in them, and would rather work with someone to bring out their potential than try and shut them down. I don?t think he likes having to be the bad guy. If he makes a mistake, that?s usually the last time he?ll ever make it. Rei is another who is more than willing to help out if you need a solution to a problem, and is a pretty nice guy.

Weaknesses: I?ve only heard of his legendary stubbornness, and when he makes up his mind, it?s hard to change it. People say every now and then that he acts in his own best interest. The only thing I?ve really seen for myself is that when he finally just loses it?get out of his way, because he?ll be on a warpath. His outbursts are usually done out of anger and he doesn?t mean it, but that doesn?t mean it won?t have consequences.

ANDROID 18
Strengths: She is a nice, giving person, who is often willing to lend a helping hand and sacrifice her free time to do so. If you ask her opinion, she?s very honest and points out specific things. I believe Eighteen has a lot of heart, and wants to spread the <3. She also will lend you a genuine sympathetic ear if you have a serious problem, which is important for anyone of a leadership position to be able to have.

Weaknesses: I?ll reiterate what I stated in my previous answer: less staff calls, constantly indecisive, and takes things personally. I understand not every situation is the same, but sometimes the atmosphere feels like walking on eggshells around you: if somebody says something you don?t want to hear, you?re at their throat almost instantly. I?ve never personally been on the receiving end, but I?ve seen you fling daggers. I truly believe this comes from a self-esteem issue and that you have a low mental picture of yourself. I think if you built yourself up a lot more, this wouldn?t be a problem.

BURTER
Strengths: This guy is a self-motivated go-getter. Whenever he sets his mind to something, he does it, and does it well. He is constantly observing and thinking to himself, ?Okay, now how can I make this better?? or ?What can I do that is fun for other people?? A number of projects pop into my head that he has either created or taken the helm of and made it enjoyable for the masses. His concerns are always for the members and making sure they are having a good time, and he often sacrifices a lot of his own to do it. A large population agrees that his sagas are absolutely a blast. He plans very thoroughly, making sure to cover every last detail and create a wide variety of aspects, and then pulls it off well. No one can say he?s not dedicated, and I?d say he?s left more than a permanent mark on this RPG. He has also been more than willing to help out, and I?ve come to him many times with things I needed help or advice on, and he takes care of it.

Weaknesses: When Burt?s upset, he can be an abrasive jerk. There?s a distinct difference between when he?s being disciplinary and when he?s a jerk, and it shows. While he starts many a-project and does many a-saga, I feel there is also a flip side to that. When he has a lot to do, he spreads himself a little thin, leaving not as much detail to attention to everything. One small example of this is during his sagas, he starts off with ?popularity ratings? that everyone looks forward to, but after one or two, they stop. Or he?ll get involved in something and then just stop all of a sudden. When he gets wiped, it?s pretty easy to tell. If he says ?tomorrow? it might very well be two or three days instead. Even though Burter does a good job with things, it would be nice to see a saga done by another staff member. Lastly, sometimes I feel like he?s a little full of himself. One occasion would be when he originally switched to Burter Jr, and he made a thread titled ?The Future of Burter? and marked it as important or an announcement or something, when I (and others) didn?t feel it was that significant. I was happy, however, to see that when he switched back, it was just done as a regular update.

HELLFIGHTER 17
Strengths: Hellfighter is one of the biggest turn-around stories in my memory. When he started, he was such a n00b that I didn?t think he was ever going to fit in. But here he is: a super mod. HF, to make another reference here, ?makes Speedy Gonzalez look like Regular Gonzalez.? He?s constantly zipping around the board and taking care of everything. He?s like a frickin? meter maid. He?s got a great sense of humor that he integrates into everything, even when he?s telling you to not do something, but you can tell he?s being serious. He?s very analytical and not only can he give you a yes or no answer, but he can thoroughly and comprehensively tell you why. He?s helpful and has enough experience that he can give you good advice. And he?s crazy smart.

Weaknesses: I?ve never seen Heffers run a saga before, and I think his actual roleplaying is better than his saga posts. The storylines look like they?ve been typed up in about ten minutes, and aren?t really riveting. You?ve got to be inspiring, man!

BRA
Strengths: Aside from being totally flipped out, crazy, coo coo la banza, Bra pays attention to details, and is very good at familiarizing himself with a situation. He reads each post in a thread, and addresses the concerns of those who may have been looked over. Whenever he doesn?t know something, he isn?t afraid to ask questions, and I believe he always makes informed decisions, because it shows that he does his homework. When something needs updating, Bra is usually one of the people who?re all over it. He?s one of the greatest people to get into a conversation with. Like HF, he has a great sense of humor, even if it?s a bit?off the wall. Not only is he able to remain an active staffer, but he also balances roleplaying on a regular basis and converses in the Asylum quite often, which is a rare combination, as it is usually lacking in one place or another.

Weaknesses: Can?t say I?ve noticed too many weaknesses, other than the fact that he sticks to a few areas of staffing versus others (e.g., updating). I haven?t seen him on too many disciplinary issues, which may or may not be a weakness. Oh, and did I mention he was crazy?

KRILLIN
Strengths: Ah, the Apprentice. He?s come a ways from the kid who ?just wanted to see how far he could get.? Krillin is very good at making quests. When someone is like, ?Hey, can I have a quest on such-and-such planet?? he simply pulls one from his pocket and goes ?Oh sure, I happen to have one right here.? Maybe not exactly like that, but it?s pretty damn close. I?d say he?s one of the more creative staff members. He updates quite often, and it is to my understanding he does a lot of spar and quest grading. Like HF, he?s pretty smart, and can often be seen reasoning out his opinions. Oh, and I love the humor in his roleplays (second only to Garlic Junior =o).

Weaknesses: Like I said before, he is (for some reason or another) taking the low ground on a lot of issues, and is pretty argumentative when he gets upset. I know he didn?t used to be as bad, he?d simply lock the thread or state very clearly ?this is what you?re doing, now stop.? Lately it seems to be more along the lines of ?stfu? and then proceeds to pick apart the person in question. It?s a little unbecoming of staff.

TRUNKS
Strengths: All-around nice guy. I?ve never seen him lose his temper or be harsh to anyone. I think he definitely is very creative, as evidenced with his personal roleplays and the premises behind his sagas. He?s one of the more active roleplayers on staff, if not the most active. He is also a regular updater, taking very good care of new joiners. I believe (if memory serves) at one point he was a Super Mod.

Weaknesses: History has told me that Trunks often has a tendency to become overwhelmed. In his saga ventures, he often feels like he?s bitten off more than he can chew, and has expressed this. I think he has time constraints in his personal life that keep him from doing all he would like to do on Chubbs, which is unfortunate, but a staffer needs to be able to have time to give.

How do you define Super Admin, Admin, Super Mod, Mod and Story Guide?

SUPER ADMIN
In our particular instance, it?s an ownership thing, someone who deals with other sites, takes care of technical problems, makes sure we have a board to post on and a server to be hosted on, and break a tie in case the admins can?t agree on something. If it were possible, it would be great if they could be the ?ultimate overseer? and be more familiar with everything and everyone. A super admin holds authority over everything, but I don?t count this in my chain of command.

ADMIN
I begin the chain of command here, and the admins are the top link. They hold higher authority than anyone, and can overrule any decision made by the lower chains (even if they have majority). Not only that, but they can quell any dispute. The admins act in the best interest of the site, supervising all activity and making sure everything is going smoothly. Any major decision has a lot of thought behind it. Whatever they are too preoccupied to do, the lower levels take care of. Admins require a lot of knowledge about the site and its inner workings, and must be well informed at all times?or at least be able to pretend they are. While they?re not doing that, they probably have a hand in some production or other that?s going on behind the scenes.

SUPER MOD
The second link in the chain of command, super mods answer only to admins, but hold authority over the lower ranked mods and story guides. They must be well versed in the site as to be able to answer whatever inquiry may pop up. Super mods have usually been mods for a while (some starting at story guide), and so they?ve worked their way up the ladder, meaning they have experience in the grunt work and have excelled at their previous position. Members and staff alike often seek their opinions and influence, because they are held in a high regard. This level is a heavier balance of site content and normal mod duties, as they should be able to handle both and do them well. They?re not afraid to act independently of other staff (within reasonable bounds), and should be able to take charge of a situation and be the authority.

MOD
The third, and usually bottom, link in the chain of command, although they do hold higher authority over members (and story guides if the occasion calls for it). Mods are essentially the out-and-out worker bees, updating and grading and towing the line to make sure the members don?t get too rowdy. They are still involved in site content, and indeed end up creating quite a few things when they?re not doing their worker bee tasks. Their attention is mostly on the little things that make up the big picture.

STORY GUIDE
Technically the lowest you can go. I see this as more of ?mod-in-training.? They have the potential to become mods, but they?re just not quite there yet. It?s like when you have a couple of assistant managers; you always want one ?in the hopper? just in case the position was to suddenly become vacant (or you surpass them in the ability to do the job). Story guide is the halfway point between member and staff. Their duties are like those of a mod, except they hold less authority.

Super Admin: VJ

Admin: Raditzu and Reijin

Super Moderator: Android-18, Burter Jr, Hellfighter 17

Moderator: Bra, Krillin, Trunks

Story Guides: None

My Staff List:

Super Admin: VJ

Admin: Raditzu and Reijin

Super Moderator: Burter Jr, Hellfighter 17

Moderator: Bra, Krillin, Trunks, Android-18

Story Guides: Super Buu, Bardock, Android 20

As you can see, I really didn't make many changes, except I reimplemented the idea of "Story Guides" again. The only noticeable switch on that list is Android 18 to Moderator. She does a great job, but she's been very busy lately, and I think it'd be best if she didn't have to worry about doing so much here on Chubbs. I would have promoted one of the current Moderators to Super Admin, however, they are all having time constraints lately. Trunks was my leading candidate, but now he's having much less time as well. In the event that one of them showed they had more time to commit, I would have promoted them to Super Mod. I didn't touch the current Admin and Super Admin hierarchy simply because it would have unbalanced the staff situation. VJ may not be able to be here very often, but he pays for our servers, and keeps us out of legal trouble. Not to mention, he can be a "tie-breaker" in the event that Rad and Rei reach an impasse. I considered upping either Rad or Rei to Super Admin status, to sort of be the man in charge, but they both do a lot of work for the site, some visible to the members, and probably a lot not visible to us. I couldn't simply make one of them a Super Admin and leave the other as just an admin. I was going to up Burter Jr to Admin as well, as he's convinced me that in the event one of our current admins can't stay on Chubbs anymore, he's the one I'd want taking his place as an administrator.

Also, I made all three Chubbs Idol Finalists Story Guides to sort of give a "trial period" for the staff to evaluate each of us in a practical test. The three of us act as "mini-staff" for a while, and then based on how we perform in our duties there, you can make one of them a more permanent member of staff. The other two could remain story guides and keep helping out, or simply remove the Story Guide position altogether.

Continuing off from HF's question, critique each of the current Staff members, their strengths along with their weaknesses.

Vegeta Jr: It's not fair for me to critique him. I think I've seen him post maybe about ten times in my time here on Chubbs. I know he pays for our servers and deals with legal problems, like the phishing scam that occurred a while back. However, he simply isn't here that much, which causes problems... serious problems sometimes. This was evident to me when staff were wanting to make some serious changes to the main site, but were incapable to because they lacked access to anything but the news. I don't really know what his personal strengths and weaknesses are, but if I have to call it like I see it, his strength is keeping Chubbs around for all of us to remain on, and his weakness is not being here enough to allow it to move forward as quickly as some people would like.

Raditzu: He made up his own word: XTREME. You really just can't beat that. He's an amazing writer to boot, as well. Not to mention he appears to me to be extremely smart and knows what he's doing. As I can't see the staff forum, I don't know who has been responsible for what around the site, and how much he really has done behind the scenes. He doesn't do much moderating, but that's not his job in the first place. His strengths to me are his leadership capabilities, his creativity, and his open-mindedness. His weaknesses would probably be that I haven't really seen him make any personal input into the site lately. He may have been behind the scenes, but to outside appearances, he's just the man in charge. I'd like to see him put some of his own ideas into motion, unless he already has, and then my point is moot. I don't know, he's just the person who you expect to be Admin, because he excells in that position.

Reijin: He seems to have the misfortune of being called "the other admin." Or, at least he was in the Apprentice, if I remember. He obviously has put a whole lot of heart and soul into this place, and has sacrificed a lot to contribute to Chubbs. I can simply see this because he'll occassionally post threads detailing his current situation, which ususally is pretty rough. The fact that he still continues to remain on Chubbs through all he's going through is a testament to his commitment and persistence. His strength would definitely be just that, his commitment, his perseverence. He also is a brilliant writer as well, and I know he has definitely done his share to put his ideas forth into the site, as I remember that there was apparently a bit of a disagreement between him and other staffers over telekinesis. His weakness would probably be that he's not on all to often, and he's not terribly active on the IC or OOC boards. It may be because he's doing a lot behind the scenes, or he's just trying to make it through real life, which always comes first. Perhaps it's just because I'm measuring his activity against Rad's, which is very high. He, like Rad, is in the staff position he excells best in.

Burter Jr: If there ever comes a day that Rad or Rei have to leave Chubbs, I hope that he's the one who becomes the next administrator. I've never seen anyone devote some much time and energy to this place, it's insane. Whenever I get on, he's almost always there, performing his staff duties, and putting forth an incredible amount of effort. And I'm under the impression that he ran FoF2 completely by himself. As I'm currently running my own saga on FoF the RPG and am struggling to time manage and keep things moving, I respect him even more for pulling it off so amazingly well. Strength: Absolute commitment. He puts so much into this site. Weaknesses: He has been in several disputes with members in the past, such as with him and the old Recoome, him and the old Bojack, and several other members. He's just a little too quick to jump on people sometimes.

Android 18: She's a great writer and artist, and very kind towards practically everyone. She's also very honest, except for that one time she and HF collaborated to make me think she was HF, and I was like "What the hell is going on here?" Yeah, anyways, her strength would be her empathy. She's the "nice" person on staff. However, on the downside, she's not nearly as active as the other staff members, and as I think both Super Buu and Bardock have already itterated, she's just too indecisive and inactive. I think she could be a good moderator if her activity makes a comeback, but as a Super Moderator, she just isn't here enough, and isn't as firm as she needs to be in her decision making. That could, of course change, but that's how I see things right now.

Hellfighter 17: Can you say active much? And I'm not being sarcastic there in the least. His ascension to Super Mod status was evident a mile away. As a moderator, he was faster than the speeding bullet in updating things and answering questions and the like. Also, he's taken over the lead role in PC3. While it remains to be seen how the saga will pan out, right now, he's doing a great job in keeping things moving and making it interesting. His strengths would probably his ability to connect well with any member as he's very easy to get along with, and his past showing as a staff member shows he's committed, and also very adept at taking on his position. However, I'm not sure about his leadership abilities. This saga will show his ability to organize something alone, but I'm not sure if he'd be a great person at leading others and getting them to work well as a team.

Bra: Knows a lot about cars. Almost so much it can be intimidating sometimes. But that's beside the point. He's not on as much as he used to be, but he still gets the job done as a moderator when he is here. He also has contributed a lot to Chubbs, as is evident from our new "Ships" system. I'm under the impression that he did a lot of that work, and looking at all that, it's very impressive. However, his drawback is that I haven't seen him do all that much as a moderator, at least not as much as other staffers, but that may be because HF is a machine at that stuff. His activity level is probably his weakness, in my opinion.

Krillin: I thought he was going to take over Chubbs a while ago. He won the Apprentice, as a "n00b" too. Joined just one day after me, and beat all those other people who had been here longer than him. At the time, he was committing a lot to the site, and putting forth a huge amount of effort. But then college time rolled around, and his time to be here has been severely limited. He still perfoms his duties when he is capable, but right now it's his level of commitment that's his weak point. Oh, and if you know what's good for you, don't EVER play him in chess, unless you want to be dominated.

Trunks: I was going to make him the Super Mod to take Android 18's place on my staff list until recently. His life has gotten busy, and he just can't commit as much time to Chubbs as he used to. He's obviously very creative and intelligent, as he wrote the storyline for PC3, and started it out very well, too. His strengths would be his creativity, and the "down to earth" vibe I get from him. You sometimes forget that he's a staff member, and in a good way, not a bad way. However, his weakness would be his loss of time to commit to Chubbs, like the other Moderators and Android 18.

How do you define Super Admin, Admin, Super Mod, Mod and Story Guide?

Super Admin
He's the guy who just makes sure that all the staff are doing their job. He should try to input ideas into Chubbs, but his real job is to lead and organize the rest of staff. He's also the person to approve anything big that concerns the site as a whole, as well as the one who would be a "tie-breaker" in a situation. Can approve joining applications.

Admin
They more or less run the site. While the Super Admin oversees everything, he doesn't have as direct a role in the site as the Admin would. The Admin leads the staff as well, makes sure everything runs smoothly, and also organizes new ideas so that the site constantly changes and adapts for the better. Also the one to approve things, so long as they aren't so big that they don't have any control of it, in which case the Super Admin would have to make the call. They can perform some moderating duties, but for the most part, they plan, organize, and lead. Can approve joining applications.

Super Mod: A mix between Admin and Mod. They still have to keep up with some of their moderating duties, but not as much as they used to, as the Mods are the ones to keep up with that for the most part. They plan ideas for the site, oversee the Mods, and offer insight to the Admin and Super Admin. They also can approve some decisions, but only small things, as most decisions must be made by the Admin. Can approve joining applications.

Mod: It's harsh to say, but the "grunts" of staff. They do the most of the moderating and updating on the boards. They must make sure that the members are in line, and that the members requests are fulfilled or denied, based off of the rules. They are the enforcers of the rules and the people who make sure the basic activities of the site continue to move along. Can approve joining applications.

Story Guide: The "junior staff." They don't have any moderating or updating duties to fulfill, as they lack many real staff powers. However, they are responsible for helping out the Mods, Super Mods, Admins or Super Admins whenever called upon. This can mean helping in writing up parts for a saga, writing up quests, alerting Mods to places where rules are being broken, and answering questions posed by members. Unlike all the other positions of staff, they cannot approve joining applications.

Please find three cases where warnings were given out (maybe even look for warnings that were given out before the clean slate if you remember 'em) and state why you disagree witht his ruling, and find three cases where a warning was not given out and you think it should have been and state your reasoning.

I hope that made sense.

Kirano

He was only really causing a ruckus in the Asylum. Give him a 24-hour ban to demonstrate that he?s in hot water, and rather than give him the opportunity to ?be an overall moron? and ?piss everybody off,? it should have been that he was banned from the Asylum for a lengthy amount of time, if not for good. After a period of time, gradually let him back in, as in, give him access for only so many hours, and then take it away, and if he goes without spamming, the time that he is allowed in gradually increases. However, if his ?probation? is violated take away Asylum privileges completely.

SHOULD?A, WOULD?A, COULD?A

Retane

While it?s difficult to nail down a single post, I picked this one because it was most recent. Retane has had a history of perpetuating fights and arguments, and taking this to a public forum under the intent of purposefully instigating should warrant something.

Bido

Pure spam. It was under my jurisdiction, so that was up to me. If not a warning, then at the very least a verbal reprimand.

While the task specified three for each, that?s all I got for ya without being too much of a hard-ass. I?m sure I could list a billion things of Will?s I would warn for, but that?s too easy. I also agree with the remainder of the warnings in the forum. Staff usually only warns if there are multiple offenses, the offense is blatantly obvious, or if they?re on tilt.

I may or may not be able to answer any questions after this, as the impending deadline is drawing near and I will have difficulty getting on a computer due to work and the like.

One of the other staff members is pissed off at you and the admins both said you need to make nice or your kicked off of staff (since you're the noob and all). This means you get to play everyone's favorite game: brown-nosing. The pissed off staffer said fine, but you have to make your appeal quick. You have one sentence to try to mend things. What do you say to each staff member?

For the record, just so you guys know, Eighteen is on Staff for a reason. The public does not see a lot of the work she does, but she is working for Chubbs a lot behind-the-scenes. One of the unfortunate drawbacks of this is that many people underestimate her.

But, she is on Staff for a reason, and is Super Moderator for a reason. We would remove her if she wasn't pulling her weight, but she is.

Just so you guys know. =)

Don't you want to go above and beyond the regular call of duty to impress us, or are you just ok with following the rules?

Whee-chaw! Trick question!

I'm just wondering, since I didn't have time to answer the other question, whether it's still open or not. Or whether that question is just an 'extra', so to speak. Or if Rad hadn't seen the thing. Tongue
