My opinion doesn't matter when it comes to exactly what the decision is, but I wouldn't be for NPCing Buu. I know it seems like a while to the newer people, but a year isn't that long. That and most of the currently NPCed characters not only have time under their belt but have dedicated themselves to the fulfillment of the RPG. I'm sure you've done great things; I'm just not so sure if it warrants being NPCed. Now, that's not to say I'd be upset if you were NPCed, that'd be great for you. I'm just saying that if everyone was to vote on it, you wouldn't have my vote.

Also, the fact that you've been thinking about quitting RPGs makes me wonder about the Chubbs Idol competition. I just feel kind of led astray with your dedication to the RPG, you know?

Other than that, good luck with all of your classes. I'm sure you'll pull it out, and hopefully you'll be able to stick around.

Yeah, even now I'm thinking "this is a bad idea". But really I have to see how it goes. I mean, there's an argument both ways. You could say that you need your leisure time otherwise you'll go nuts, but damn, it sucks up a lot of fucking leisure time. XD

If nothing else, I'd ask just to get NPCed for a few months. If I know I'm definitely not going to be coming back, I'll let you guys know, but I don't want to feel like I'm on a time leash. At the moment it's still up in the air. I just don't know if I'll have time or not.

Give up Supes. Save your stats on your computer.

Come back when you can. If Supes is taken, sorry. If not, get him back. Regardless, you can get all your stats and techs back.

The way I see it, there are two routes. The honest route and the dishonest route.

1) I make a shitty 300 word post every 2-3 weeks to ensure that I keep my character, until I either make a full return or decide it's time to call it quits. It's more irritating for both myself and the other members, but people won't be able to really bitch about it (on the boards, at least) because it's 'legally' within the rules to do so.

2) I get NPCed until I know what's goin' down. I don't have to make shitty roleplays, but I don't get TP either. I see it as a little more honest since I don't think you should be getting TP when you're barely here anyway. Others might disagree.

Like I said, I prefer the second option, but I completely understand if that's not possible. Either way, I'm not going to be majorly active in the coming weeks/months.

My 2 cents.

College is tricky, there are long peroids of ups, and then short/long periods of downs. If we can NPC Uub for 3 months, then let him come back for a week, then NPC him for another 4 months, why can't we let SB be NPC'ed(for personal reasons) for 3 months.

Not to like, put myself down or anything here, but we even let Piccolo(the one before me) stay NPC'ed even though he was here on occasion and then not for a while.

Let me clarify a few things:

1) My summer job is the same job I've done for the past three summers. I've been gone for relatively the same timeframe every time. This summer I'll be gone again. What we know is that despite being going for the summer, I'll for sure be back come mid-august. As HF17 pointed it out, I had a set amount of time before I returned, whereas you are unsure of when or if you will return.

2) I've never asked to be NPCed. That was something staff GENEROUSLY put on me due to the fact that I had proven that, despite leaving for the summer, I'd be returning. Yes, college only lasts a semester, and then there's a 6 week break. What's after that though? Another semester. What's going to make this semester any different from the one you're currently in? How is being an active member of Chubbs in February not going to affect your courses of that semester if it's affecting your grades now?

3) I've been a member for YEARS. Rei, Veggie, Rad, Waffuru, MK, and Kami have been here longer than me, with 18 having joined around the same time as me (correct me on that 18, stretching the memory). If anything, I've earned an NPC role during the summer.

4) There's been obvious times when I haven't had time for the RPG. My personal saga is enough proof for that with the sparity of roleplays that occur. If you really want to keep your character, make a post every few weeks. 300 words can be done in 15 minutes. If I did it, so can you. Broli was worth enough for me not to just forget it all and let him fall into inactivity. What's Super Buu worth?

5) If anything, I'd be fine with the MIA rule being waved for the next 4-6 weeks. From there it should be clear if you are able to stay an active member or not.

I don't remember lol, I joined ages ago >_>. Even I have taken breaks, not sure if I was ever NPC'd (Rad would know, I guess) but I always came back to my character being here.

This just seems extremely tight-assed, considering past scenarios where people have been like "hey, I need to disappear for a few months," "that's cool man, take all the time you need."

I personally would have no problem with NPCing you for a duration, but not permanently. Meaning if you expected to be back in the next few months or so. Yeah, "we've gotten too soft" and other bitching. I don't feel we should be flexing our muscles to show how hardass we can be in every situation and it seriously irritates me to always hear that. Anyways, the problem with the NPC thing is that I'm only going to put my number in as a vote, I'm not going to jump up and say "here's the ruling" because I don't believe that this is a situation that calls for that. I try not to do that unless I feel it necessary.

I don't think we should be trying to convince you to put your school career on the line and put out those roleplays when in the end our website has no right to detract you from your future like that. I could be all hardass and go "Yeah, everyone has that, if you can't do it then tough shit" but we've not had many problems on your end. Its a case by case thing. There are some others we have that have gotten their character, vanished from the earth using school as the reason, come back promising that they now have a ton of free time, vanished as soon as they got back and in the middle of something, come back again saying something came up but now they REALLY DO have free time, vanish again... etc. That's when I have to be hardass despite not wanting to.

It's sad to see you go. I'd be lying if I said I loved your writing, because I honestly never read it. But it's always pretty sad to see someone go. But I don't think you should take what some of these guys say to heart, they're just giving their opinion. I personally kind of feel though like if you were NPCed for more than a couple of months, it'd be insulting to those that have put forth the effort in doing contributions to the site in general. I feel like that with everyone who has gotten and hasn't been staff or at the very least been here for a longer time.

But I really do sympathize with you, because I'm going through the same thing you are right now. I'm balancing out school full time, work full time, and trying to balance this place out. I've quit this place two times already and recently the last time I really felt horrible because I felt like I let everyone down. I didn't even ask to be NPCed because to be honest, I didn't feel like I should be holding a character that was A) Important to the RPG(at that time, KV was actually the king of the planet and a big part of the storyline going on in Vejita-Sei) and B) I just really didn't think I was ever going to be back. I also thought it'd be insulting to the staff if I asked them after I had already quit before, honestly =/ I'm trying to keep myself from pulling a vanishing act again, though.

I do kind of think though you should be NPCed for a short period given that you've shown you're dependable, but only in regards to the fact that you're being totally honest here and are suffering from an unavoidable issue. But the reason why Broli disagrees with you and why others I kind of agree with them in a way, is because back when the whole NPCs started, it was REALLY rare. I don't remember anyone actually ever being NPCed back 4 or 5 years ago except for Mav(Turles) and Pops(Bardock). But I'm not trying to insult you nor are any of the people that seem to be disagreeing with you so don't take it like that. But again, good luck to you.

I think the whole NPC being rare thing was because, back then, there was no MIA system. People didn't post for months and then came back with their characters fine.

Again, sorry I was a little snappy earlier. This is just a difficult thing for me. Chubbs is like my home on the internets. This is not something that I want to do. So when people doubt that and call me a liar ... well, that hit a nerve. I've calmed down now. I know it's not an excuse, just a meagre explanation.

Also (edit time ran out) I agree with what both of you said. If I'd wanted to be an ass, I could have just done a 'Going Away' thing until I made up my mind. But, like I said, I'd rather let people know my actual situation and decide from there what's best.

I would agree to being given a 'short-term NPCing' like Reijin and a few others have suggested. If that's alright with the staff, I'd ask that I'm simply NPCed for the time being, and when I know what's happening I'll let you guys know. If it starts getting ridiculous, you can always contact me saying "k, we need to know. You keeping SB or not?" - I'll still be checking my PMs, and I'm always on MSN. I just need some time to stretch my wings and see if it's possible to amputate myself from Chubbs and into the real world of work/writing. If I decide it's time to quit for real, I'll pass on the legacy of Soups to someone else.
