Just giving my opinion, but I think you're just not ready for commitment. It happens at the end of a serious relationship and can last for a while afterwards - days, months, even years. In your case, a girl hurt you pretty badly. You want to move on and commit yourself to another relationship. That's perfectly natural but the heart can make you do crazy things. You may want to do one thing but do another. See what I'm saying? In your mind you know you want to commit to another but your heart just isn't ready for that to happen just yet whether it be out of fear or whether it's still trying to get over the previous relationship.

So basically my advice to you is not to push it. Just go about your life and not worry yourself about commitment and enjoy being single. Go party, get immersed in a hobby, go out with the guys, or whatever it is that floats your boat. Just don't put so much importance on having someone else around to make you happy or just because it's happening all around you. (trust me, I know what it's like.) Only you can make yourself happy. Having another person to share that happiness with is just a bonus. A serious relationship will happen not only when it wants to happen, but when you're emotionally and mentally ready for it to happen as well. Hope I've helped you out some.

And as for Videl's Reply. Yeah shes the best thing Ive read yet. But something tells me your in the boat I was in back in 05. You want a girlfriend but dont know how to commit to her? Tell her she's pretty. Compliment her, talk to her. Dont just be BF/GF to just be it. Make something of it. Get to know each other. On Valentines day, give her flowers. Stuff like that. I can talk with my girl about anything, and we laugh and have a great time. She's one of the guys to me. I can joke and be myself around her.

Basically my advice is to, Talk to her, be nice to her. Committing isnt easy, but if she's high maintenance its even harder. High Maintanance girls are bitches, they want from you always and never give back. Just be careful. And enjoy yourself. You SHOULD be able to enjoy yourself around her, it shouldnt be awkward.

I should've said this before: When you get with this new found lady friend, notice her. Notice the little things she does to her appearance, chances are, she wants to feel beautiful. You noticing it will make her day.

If you're having that much trouble commiting, don't. Simple as that, lay off the relationships for awhile and take a break.
