Need help deciding.

If you don't want to go to the new areas (outland of the new starting areas), or be a new race, or new professions, then you don't need BC.

Okay, so if I buy BC, do I need anything else?

BC is an expansion, you'll need both WoW and BC.

Horde ftw, srsly.

With people on a faction spelling like that, how can you argue against the intellegence of the horde?

Joking, joking. Zug Zug.

I like both sides, and I'm not partial to either, although I still just focus on my Gnome Warlock main.

By the way... Escape Artist does NOT escape stun. That's completely wrong. I know this due to having to spam iHoT when a Rogue starts buttplugging me. Orcs are where to go if you want stun resistance.

It also will not let you remove the slow effect of an ice patch from a hunter. If you are running over one, that's it, you are running over it.

What it DOES deal with are things like magic and other things that slow you down as a status effect. Things like the cold effect of Frostbolt, the effect of Hamstring, stuff like it. It also removes any root effect like Entangling Roots and Earthbind Totem and stuff, which does come in handy. I still love the technique, but sometimes I activate it thinking I can get out of something that I actually can't, and the difference between a stun and being slowed when you were running can be hard to tell.

If you want to make a Blood Elf or Dreanai, be a Jewelcrafter, or go to any expansion zones (BE and Dreanai starting zones, and Outland which is level 58+) then you need the expansion.

Otherwise, just get normal WoW and get TBC when you get near 60 or want to make one of the above listed things.

So, aside from Tom, who Ive talked to thuroughly about this: Gnome Rogues? Good, bad, eh? What do I need to know beforehand to hit the ground running?

Gnome Rogues are really not bad, with their increased dodge, but I still can't help but feel that any Alliance Rogue should be Nelf, just due to the increased Stealth you get from it. Remember, a rogue out of stealth is like a mage with no mana. They are both dead shots.

I live in the United States, I have no earthly idea how much it costs a month to play WoW which is why I said 24-25 bucks a month, hell 15 bucks is too much for me.

What diffrence does that make? WoW is preety popular in the US as well allthough the initial popularity of the game originated from Europe. Also, 18 is from Canada.

Quote:I have a mentally that any game has the ability to become unpopular, the company may fail for bankruptcy making that cash you put into playing tha game worthless...that's just me.

Of course any game can become unpopular. That is true for all games, including GW and WoW. But if your paying for a game, you most probably enjoy playing it.

Companies can go bankrupt, but that doesnt neccesarilly mean the game wont live on. The diffrence is that it becomes "public property" and is thus left to the users to support.

Quote:That's why I like GW...fifty bucks for one time and you're set. No monthly fees, credit card overdrafts etc...shiznit I don't even own a creditcard, never needed one. Gots me a good ol bank card/debit card....dun want a cc though...nooo ways.

You don`t neccesarilly need a credit card to play WoW. I don`t have it and I still play it. How? I buy Game Cards (which I order over the internet) which I then use to update my account over the internet. And then I`m ready to play WoW again.

Overall, it`s your choice what you play. But in my experience, WoW is worth the money you pay for it. While GW has no monthly fee and is not a bad game, it has much less to offer and is also less dinamic then it`s Blizzard counterpart.

"Thousands of retail stores around the world had their doors open at midnight on January 16 to welcome the crowds that had gathered outside, and within 24 hours of The Burning Crusade's launch that night, nearly 2.4 million players worldwide had purchased the expansion."

Yeah, not going to die anytime soon.

All in all,
GW = free = less content.
WoW = monthly fee = a lot of content.

GW has lots of content. You didn't even play through a tenth of the game... you just don't like it.

I liked it until I got to the area where everything was destroyed. Seriously, you only get to 20 in that game and it revolves around PVP. I'm not going to deny it, I'm biased, but you haven't even played WoW so we're going to say the same things about each game.

I've said nothing about WoW... it has nothing to do with WoW whatsoever.

The pre-searing is just a big tutorial... you don't usually get to go back into tutorials after they're finished.

Also, the level cap being 20 is awesome, I think, it takes out the stupid level grind of most other MMOs and instead it's based almost completely on how you build your character... something you can change in any town. I've probably played 300+ hours of Guild Wars and I'd say only 10 of them are PvP playtime. You can play through the game and play absolutely no player verus player and still enjoy it.

I have played WoW...

Oh really? How long did you play it for?

Point is, I'm ultimately going to be biased about WoW and say it's better, while you're going to say GW is better, because we like each game for our own reasons.

He can get GW all he wants, but my opinion remains the same. I felt it lacked what WoW didn't.

From a neutral point of view, let's look at it this way. Although I prefer WoW, I've not played GW. I've considered it, but I have a large group of friends that played it and prefer WoW. Regardless, that shouldn't really affect the following:

You said you were planning on trying to play both, right? Then obviously you get GW first, so that you can get on and play for free whenever monthly. This lets you save up the money to then buy WoW for further comparison. If you buy WoW first, that's soaking up money monthly beforehand so you won't even be able to try GW b/c you'll then be held to your account.

So I recommend getting GW first if you are serious about trying BOTH of them out. If you are looking for just playing one... I'd recommend WoW from personal experience, but basically they just depend on exactly what type of game you are looking for. They aren't made to appeal to the same crowd in any way, just as CoH is made for the more casual MMO player (in my opinion).

I didn't say one was better than the other. You were just making things up about how awful GW was and I'm informing G.Gohan that it's not true. Sad

I'm saying my opinion =P I think GW's graphics are nice, but it lacks content and to ME it felt like it revolved around PvP. Oh that and naked dancing.
