Can you imagine a video game about rape in a publicy accessible arcade here in North America? Fuck no; there'd be an outrage. And while I do agree that rape has no place in video games, it hasn't stopped some people in Japan from making games like those.

I'm not bashing on Japan; that was an extreme example, but it's one that's pretty startling.

Another thing I've noticed, is that the younger Japanese crowd likes to imitate and completely blow North American trends way out of proportion, especially with the visual aspects of 'car culture'.

I'd like to visit, and I'd certainly like to see some races out in Japan. But I think that there's not many places in the world that could 'culture-shock' me more than Japan. It could be fun. Let's all go tomorrow.

Did you know that it's not really taboo to date your first cousin in Japan? =o I didn't know that.

Actually, offspring of first cousin marriages tend to be healthy. It's usually only families who interbreed frequently that end up with medical problems.

Japanese culture is strong. Probably one of the strongest in the world. Allthough there are other strong cultural countries, Japan is one of the few that are capable of "exporting" it`s culture to other countries.

However, despite being preety modern, Japanese culture still retains the old traditions allthough in a new format. Bushido is still very much an important part of Japanese society. Honor is still one of the most valued traits. Discipline is still a great influence on Japanese people. The only diffrence is it expresses itself in a diffrent way.

Overall, Japan still remains a very mysterious country, very unfamiliar to the people outside.
