From the fact that almost everything new that they provide on ALREADY TRIED AND TESTED GROUNDS is still fuckin wonky and out of balance. They're still redoing champions that came out at the very beginning of the game lol.

It'd be sweet if they came out with a nice, polished balanced level with extensive testing that just slips right into the play group with no major hiccups or dumb ideas, but I seriously doubt that'll happen.

Perfect balance in a game of this nature is impossible. Literally impossible. Irelia is the absolute #1 example of this. She came out and everyone was all "wtf so UP no reason to play" and she just sat there for months. Patch after patch Riot did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to her and then all of a sudden she's a total beast. She becomes first pick/ban material for absolutely no reason. Then she's "stupid OP wtf nerf nao" and she had been at that same level the entire time.

In a MOBA like this, the meta determines the balance of the game. Since the meta is determined by the people playing it, that means it will constantly be changing. Since it's constantly changing, there is no perfect balance.

Some of the reason old champs are getting reworks is because of new tech that they've developed. Some of it because the champions were played in ways that they completely didn't intend and liked how it worked. Some because of genuine power creep.

To just say "they remade Kayle so they have no idea what they're doing and can't make something that's balance" is ridiculous.

To be fair, designing and playtesting any massively multiplayer online game is considerably different than a single player. Especially a MOBA game, where it's not like the bugs will be during a scripted questline or something.

I actually love that Riot is willing to be like, "You know what? We're fixing this," even with established champions. It seems like they actually care about keeping the game balanced and they actually take their playerbase suggestions and concerns fairly seriously.

If they really were such shit at game design, every new champion would be 100% broken. As it stands, they tend to just need a tiny tweak once they hit the masses.

I have never heard them release a champion and say "THIS IS GOING TO BE PERFECT, GUYSSSS." Any champ preview is usually accompanied by, "Hopefully you'll like this, this is what we were thinking with this."

Gotcha. For consideration, though, it's not just a new map. It's an entirely new game type. I imagine they had to make a lot of new tech for it.
