You've never been to the camp of your party? That can explain the problem with Alistair. Go to world map travel and look in the upper right corner, there should be a tent, click it.

...Speaking of tomes, is there any way to unlock Blood Mage through a book? Apparently I took the noble route during the time I had the chance to unlock it, and as such, I can't. You have a camp. If you're in loathering, the first town area, you finish everything and go north to the world map. From there you usually go to camp, and you should see two dwarves there.

Most of the time I don't mind, but I do hate getting stopped for that dwarf merchant guy long after I got anything I wanted from him.

There's a lot of useful information here for all you noobcakes (Kaden).
My current team of goody-two-shoes is Me (Arcane Warrior), Alastair, Leliana and Wynne. I'm just hitting level 14 now and I'm wondering which second specializations to take for everyone, if at all. I'm considering just taking them for the stat bonuses and not bothering with the talents so my companions can just keep focusing on maxing out the existing trees (shield, archery and such). I could make Alastair and Leliana into a Champion and Ranger, but I'm not sure about my main dude and Wynne. I prefer to save all Wynne's mana for healing. My main guy is a melee mage so I don't wanna be wasting HP with blood magic, I already have a spirit healer and shapeshifting would be kinda redundant since I already have a big sword. I have the same team, only I'm a warrior. Wynne is my healer and lelianan ranged, while Alistair and I fuck stuff up lol.

The team I used to beat the game was Morrigan, Alistair and Oghren. Me and Oghren just let loose while Alistair provided support for Morrigan who just AOE nuked everything while turning into a bear when need be.
