Isabella is such a trashy, disease infested prostitute. Making the decision so tough on who to chase! Avilene is cool and digs your dog and your mansion, but has a chin that would put Leno to shame, and Merril is quirky but those face tats are just no good. It's a fight between a skank, an amazon and the weird kid. For shame.

I don't like the huge time jumps. I heard the game was supposed to be over ten years and I'm like sick, long game that i'll enjoy. Then they're skipping three years after they already skipped one. :-( it better still be long enough!
You can't romance Aveline. The heart options appear but she won't go through with it. She has a hilarious quest line where she gets hers. I was sad about that though, I dig the red hair and freckles

Way ahead of you. She couldn't walk straight for a week.

I'm going with my fellow social-outcast-nerd-type, though I still haven't done the Deep Roads expedition and am miles away from actually romancing anyone. I'm determined to finish all the quests I can before I go to the Deep Roads, only a few left now.

So I started this group with the intent of being completely anti-mage and extremely vindictive. There's me (melee rogue Hawke), Varric, Fenris (pretty vindictive guy) and Isabela (who just likes unnescessary, uneven violence). The keen observer may have noticed that this group lacks a tank, which is where my problem lies. I'm on hard difficulty and I had to cheat past a certain rock creature because of 9/10 anti-melee attacks. I now keep running my head into big bosses with few mobs and that's where Isabela loses her tank ability (as Savvy starts sucking dong with only 1 mob to tank). Does anyone have any tips on how I could improve my group in any way? Anyone tried making Isabela tank who could give some tips? It just looks like I need 20 pots for each boss fight which requires so much kiting (because of the CD) and it feels like I cheat when I kite a dragon for a solid 5 mins as I equip everyone but the tank with bows and just kite it around the room. Some people use Ferris to tank, could try that. It's gonna be hard playing the game entirely without a mage, that's for sure. Anders is pretty much in my party fulltime.

I think my most-used party right now is Anders, Merrill and Isabella, though I use Aveline and Varric a lot too. Only person I've been outright ignoring is Fenris, because there's only room for one grim determinator with a giant sword in this party. Also I accidentally hit on him early on, so now it's awkward to make eye contact.

I'm thinking of just not having a tank, since my main character seems to be tough enough and ends up stealing aggro all the time anyway. Plus getting hurt works with the awesome reaver passive. Basically my haphazard strategy is just to destroy everything before I have the chance to die.

Two-handed is sooo fun this time around, cutting swathes through hordes of enemies. Dual wielding wins out on coolness though, those schwing sound effects are actually sexy.

I tried making Fenris tank but the lack of a taunt sort of stopped that for me. I think he could function as a tank if I had a dedicated healer (due to, for some reason, the abundance of % healing increased on 2h), but as I don't, bleh! Wish there was a selfloathing mage in this game.

Well that's the joy of this game, you can roll with a party of people who hate each other with no apparent downsides, some of the rival abilities are actually better. Second runthrough, I'm just going to piss off everyone including fellow mages, because I will be the only WORTHWHILE mage.

Yeah I know, I just affiliate it negatively despite knowing it doesn't make that much of a difference.

'cept with the ladies and ladyboys (speaking of, how many fell in the trap of the oldest profession? : P)

I tried it after a quicksave just to see Aveline's reaction.
"Do you HAVE to do this now, Hawke?"

"YES, NOW. Wait here."

Made better by the fact that Aveline is in the room when it happens. Poor transition from script to actual game ftw/l.
Apparently I didn't get Fenris because I did EVERY quest but the one you get him in before the deep roads. Literally. I mad.

When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Oh man, you are missing out. Fenris is DREAMY. He's so brooding and mysterious, and there's this music that plays when he turns up that's just OHMIGOD. I just want him to take me. No homo.

Are you sure? There was one last declaration of love one but it was too pathetic for my mage-raping rogue to take to get laid.

Always check your home for letters for more quests, I almost missed some before I went Deep Roads. And I like how you can get quests from random people sometimes. Like I pop into an area to do some shopping and BAM, WHAM exlamation point somewhere and it's a quest.

So yea. I have no idea how far you guys are, but is it odd that I find the Knight Captain attractive? Second to Isabela though.

Bone pit spoilers
Motherfucking DRAGON?! This early?! They're really getting into the dangerous shit fast compared to Origins.
Took me 3 tries to beat on hard and it finally did it after about 20 minutes, definitely the most fun fight so far and the first that's had me all-out, using tons of potions. Had to battle to keep the aggro on my 2handed warrior and still stay alive, occasionally I had to use Isabella's taunt to buy a few seconds for a potion/heal cooldown, and then stealth. Also constantly juggling Anders' two modes to refresh his cooldowns with Martyr and then get back on the group healing action. Fun times.
