Seen that stuff. It's still a good game. You seem really intent on bashing it for someone who hasn't played the game. Did Bioware kill your parents or something?

I was hoping that I could find a suitable "Forever Alone" comic for this situation. I could not.
Anyway, I just finished the Deep Roads Expedition:
And I'm an idiot for ignoring Mother and bringing Bethany.
Also, is anyone else playing a sword-and-shield warrior? I hardly take any damage, and I barely cause any. It's frustrating. xD
I didn't bring her along, she got taken by the templars, pretty sure something bad happens either way.
Anyone playing this on Mage? I think that whenever I get around to a second playthrough I want to try Mage or Two-Handed Warrior. There's a lot of Templar Mage tension in this game, being involved in teh conflict directly could prove fun. ![]()

Mage is my next play through. I got a stiffy when I had to beat the Deep Roads boss with only Bethany alive. If all mages attack like that I'm going to hafta change my pants.

I just fought that boss for the first time, got him down to 25% health and ran out of potions, which I bought quite a lot of before coming down. Goddamn, that is some HP bar.

Anders, Hawke (Rogue/Assassin = Boss, Precision Strikes (sustained), MOD, Backstab/Assassinate like you read about), Fenris, Isabella worked well for me against the boss there. Took awhile since he has mad health, but no one died (well, Isabella twice but Ander's Regroup is bomb). Ander with Panacea: Aid Allies and Regroup, then Heal is a great combo to keep people alive.
If you pick Mage though, Carver is the one you get in your party.
![]()
Merill IS adorable though
For me the game is very good moment to moment, but is bland in the larger picture, and not just with the story. It has enough moral quandaries and great dialogue (Isabella and Aveline oh lawdy) to carry the near sickening pandering to a new demographic. edit: And I haven't done any romance to the end but its been very hamhanded so far. Even moreso than usual. ![]() When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Deep Roads spoilers:
BOSS DOWN! That was fun, took so much micromanagement to pull off. Luckily, the boss is actually quite predictable, once you've figured out the patterns it's just a matter of being super cautious whilst you whittle him down. Also took some ruthless potion rationing ... definitely gonna stock up more for my next expedition. And yeah something bad happens to Bethany whatever. If you bring Anders along you can save her, but she still leaves ... google it if you wanna. I wanted to know if there was any way to keep her in the party, there ain't =( So I just let her die to give my warrior some TRAGIC RAGE POWER. Otherwise I felt like I'd be cheating since I was planning to bring her along anyway.
![]() Bra Wrote:People are dumb, essentially.
I had zero issues with any fight so far on hard besides
The dragon in the deep roads, and the Templar with the fanatics.
And really how hard would it have been to have kept the tactical view in on the PC? Not that its needed. Every time I come into this thread to say something nice I leave saying three that annoy me. I'm vanishing before I start bitching about the dialogue wheel. ![]() When in doubt: It was sarcasm.

Hahaha, that's a nice touch.
I actually don't mind losing Bethany that much, Anders and Merrill are both way more interesting mages gameplay-wise and personality-wise.
![]() Bra Wrote:People are dumb, essentially.

I realize this is slightly off-topic, but I feel like Milk's post needs to be addressed. I however don't want to force it on anyone, and as such, spoiler tag. (To be fair, it does contain the smallest spoiler known to man.)
Great, if you only read the red lines then yeah, it looks bad. Then again holding my hand over my eyes to only look at my feet and walking over traffic areas generally don't work out well either. You only talk about romancing because that is where the selective, self-creating experience comes in RPGs (with any social elements): who you're with. In FO3, you talk about the interesting people you meet in quest places and added to that in FO:NV you talk about your companions. We've talked a lot about the fights in the game as well here in the very thread, but unless to strategize or to say we've beat it and "it was a fun fight", what is there to ponder about? I'll go ahead and spoil something right now. In Dragon Age 2, there was a dragon. Sorry if I spoiled the purchase for you by saying this, but this is something I must declare. The graphics on the dragon was what I'd imagine a dragon to be. It had scales. They looked like scales. They were shaped in the form of scales. It breathed fire that looked like fire minus the radiant extra fire-color theme that is in all games. I don't get where you're getting those graphical images from, I don't have those and I'm on medium. I'm sure if I put them on low and downloaded a Morrowind graphic mod I can change them to look similar. Also, stop pulling the evidence from 4chan. It's not that there are many trolls. It's that they all go to that forum to entertain themselves, in this case, the entertainment is the drama value there is in underlining things that support their statement while completely ignoring the rest of the message. Everyone interested in production of gaming knows that console to PC is way easier than doing it the other way around. BioWare even attempted doing this with DAO and it didn't work out well (there were some kinks). I don't get why this was included. To add to that, the art from DAO and DA2 are very distinct, people just don't find that a positive thing but that's a matter of opinion. A good comparison that I believe you pulled in the other thread? Ogre from DAO to DA2. Look at the distinction, hot dang.
On that note, I'm hoping that there's going to be some mods for this game. I heard the modding viability went up as they properly constructed the game in a traditional matter now (console -> pc, ironic how that makes it more moddable considering consoles don't have any, but oh well), but I've yet to locate any mods worth the time (unless you have arachnophobia. Spiders turning into dogs? Hell yes.) e: whoops, that mod is the mabariphobia file. There's one for spiders as well though. [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
In general, I actually vastly prefer the look of Dragon Age 2. At least on my computer, it looks a lot better. It's not as 'realistic', but I'd rather look at something visually interesting and just say the dwarf exaggerated it. Same for the combat - not as realistic, tons more fun (IMO). The exception is the Darkspawn designs, but I don't HATE them, I just preferred the old ones.

Just beat the game. The ending was, to be honest, less than satisfying. Though one thing came of it that I was glad of.
Isabela remained by my side. Oh and holy fuck the final fight was nuts.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
